Georgia Parent Survey
Each year, schools in the state of Georgia are evaluated and given a CCRPI score (College and Career Ready Performance Index).  This is a comprehensive school improvement, accountability, and communication platform for all educational stakeholders that will promote college and career readiness for all Georgia public school students.  There are many facets to this score:  achievement, student growth, attendance and climate surveys to name a few.
You can complete the Georgia Parent Survey by using your personal computer, smartphone or tablet.
All parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of our School Climate Star Rating.  Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.  The URL address for the Georgia Parent Survey is posted below.  Please take a few minutes to complete this survey.

 “NEW” History Bee"

This year Abbotts Hill has decided to do the History Bee for students in grades 4th and 5th in place of the Geography Bee. The final will be an Online Exam that will be held in December. More information will be coming in December.

The Official Study Guides can be found these links. Part 1 will be on US History and Part 2 on Word History. Links: US History & World History The Study Guides are meant to literally “guide” students through the most prominent and significant figures and events from history. Reading through these guides should prompt students to think of history not just as a set of facts to memorize, although that’s important too, but instead to consider large-scale historical progress and the truly BIG concepts that tie those facts together. There is so much more history than what is in those pages though, so use these as just a launchpad for more history exploration!

Abbotts Hill Spelling Bee

Our Abbotts Hill Spelling/Vocabulary Bee will be held on Thursday, Dec. 15. Prior to that, each classroom determines a winner and an alternate by having a class Bee. The winners will take part in our school’s Spelling Bee. If a winner is absent, the alternate will take that spot. Our School Bee is a student event only. The winner will then represent Abbotts Hill in the county Spelling Bee where parents can attend. More details will be sent home with our winner and runner-up after our School Bee.

Here is a set of Grade-level Study Lists for Use in Preparation for Classroom Spelling/Vocabulary Bees:

Complete Set of Study Words and Definitions for Grades 1–8

You can also access the National Spelling Bee site for additional ideas. Abbotts Hill is already enrolled.
