School Meal Payments

As of May 8, 2017, students will not have the opportunity to “charge” their meals. Please ensure that your student has sufficient funds on his/her lunch account or brings in cash or check to cover the cost of his/her meal.

If your student does not have money on his/her lunch account and does not bring in payment for a meal, he/she will receive a courtesy meal consisting of a cheese sandwich and milk. Payments for meals can be made by sending cash or check to the cafeteria manager, or online at www.mypaymentsplus.com.

Please feel free to call Ms. Wallace, Abbotts Hill Cafeteria Manager, at (470)254-2865 if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you. Please see the Fulton County School Nutrition website for elementary school meal prices.

Learning Commons - Annual Book Swap!

Step 1: Search your bookshelves, closets, under your bed, in your car, on the couch, etc.

Step 2: Decide which books you no longer read but are sure someone else would enjoy!

Step 3: Check each book to make sure that it is clean, in good condition, and appropriate for someone in kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, fourth grade, or fifth grade. It must not be torn, scribbled upon, or appear worn out.

Step 4: Bring your Book Swap books to the Learning Commons between now and May 12th. You will receive Book Swap credits that can be used during the last week of school to select gently used books for yourself that have been donated by others.

A MAXIMUM OF FIVE Book Swap credits will be given to a student, even if he/she donates more than 5 books to the Book Swap to ensure that everyone gets to select “new” books.

If extra books are available after each student has selected theirs,

those students who donated more than 5 books will be invited back to the Swap to choose more books!

The Book Swap will take place

during the last week of school!

Year End Medication Reminder from the Clinic

All medications stored in the clinic must be picked up no later than Thursday, May 25th. No medications will be stored in the clinic over the summer. Any medications (prescription & over the counter) left at the end of the day on the 25th will be destroyed.

If your student currently has prescription medication in the Abbotts Hill clinic, paperwork will be coming home with your student the first week of May. This will give you the opportunity to complete the new paperwork for the 2017-2018 school year over the summer. New student health plans and authorization to give medication at school is to be completed for each new school year. These forms can also be found on the Fulton County website under the Student Health Services tab under Parent Resources at: http://www.fultonschools.org/en/divisions/ops/security/Pages/Student-Health-Services.aspx

Carpool Safety Reminder

The safest way for students to arrive to school is via the school bus.

If you need to bring your student via carpool, please remember to help keep our students and staff safe in the carpool line as you drop your students off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. When dropping off in the morning please make sure your children exit the car from the right side only. The staff's priority is to get the students out of the car and have the cars proceed forward. Do not let your student out before the sign indicating the correct place. Thank you.

Parent Volunteer Registration must be completed for all of our classroom volunteers

To keep in compliance with State Law and best practices, for the 2016-2017 school year, we will require that all persons interested in volunteering in the Fulton County School District to re-register/register (even if a person has completed an application in the past) by completing the new online volunteer registration/application process. It is very important that volunteers enter their full legal name as it appears on their government issued ID (please do not use nicknames or “goes by” names on the application). All applicants must wait 24 hours after applying for application processing and approval. We love our volunteers! Please take a minute to complete this mandatory registration.

A Message From Dr. Stabler

Dear Parents,

As our 2016-2017 school year is winding    down, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parent volunteers and the   many hours shared with us as we partnered     to accomplish so many things this year. From our Academic teams (Science Olympiad,Math Olympiad, Challenge Island to name a few)      to our in-school events such as our Fun Run,    Book Fair, and grounds beautification we are very appreciative.

Abbotts Hill had 26 students participate in the Special Olympics Track and Field event held   this past Thursday, May 11th, at North Springs High School. The children participating in our Helping Hands Enrichment Cluster did an excellent job cheering them on during the   whole event!

Both staff and students will be hard at work     up until the last day of school. Please be mindful when visiting the school for lunch or    an event that the teachers are not available     to conference during your visit. You can email the teacher to schedule a conference if necessary. Thank you for understanding.

I also would like to have you look out for our final newsletter for the school year which will   be sent home in students' backpacks on    Friday. This newsletter will contain important information regarding our upcoming School Year.

Dr. Roytunda Stabler, Principal

Curriculum Corner - Summertime Activities

Between now and the end of school, I     will be giving you RELA, writing, math,   and technology activities that can help  your child continue to learn throughout   the summer. Research has stated that   over the summer children tend to forget   up to 30% of what they’ve learned during the school year. So, what can parents do   to keep that knowledge from fading?  Please look through the following  activities.

Please click below link for some Reading, Language Arts and Writing activities for     you and your child to work on over the long summer break. The activities are designed to   be fun and some that you and your family      can do together. Choose the ones that feel right    for you and your child, AND have fun!
