Hello Parents, Students, and Families!

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year at AES! As I enter my second year, I am humbled and honored to be able to continue to lead our school as principal.  I can assure each of you that I will continue to support AES's legacy of meeting the needs of our diverse learners in order to achieve excellence and success!

As the instructional leader, one main focus I will continue to uphold is to ensure our school maintains its history of high academic success by providing a rigorous academic program that addresses the individual needs of each student.

This year, we will continue to implement the 2022 Strategic Plan which focuses on increasing student achievement in reading and math, increasing staff and families who would recommend AES, increasing the number of impactful partnerships, increasing the number of families who feel empowered to participate in their child's education, and maintaining fiscal responsibility.

During our first year of the 2022 Strategic Plan implementation, I am proud to report that our overall vision and strategies led us to have a highly successful year!  In only one year, our students in all grades demonstrated growth from their previous achievement data.  Our third-grade students experienced some of the highest growth in the Northwest Learning Community with double digit gains! In addition to that, over 80% of our staff and parents rated our school as a place they would recommend others to work and attend. Thus, moving us closer to meeting our strategic initiatives. – Sentence fragment.  Something like: By working / following our plan, we experienced these important steps forward.

Continuing with the new year, our Strategic Plan is aligned to carry our success and further our upward progression.  We will focus on personalized learning utilizing the guided workshop models in reading and math, as well as use systematic collaborative planning with the end goal of meeting and exceeding expectations for all students. Additionally, we will continue to offer opportunities for parents and community members to engage with the school by providing parent universities and events.  These engagements are designed to serve as an in depth understanding of our instructional models and strategies which can be applied at home to further support our students. Collaboration and communication with parents are key components of the Strategic Plan to ensure our students can grow to their full potential.

As I shared above, last school year was an extremely successful one for students, our school, and community as a whole! We achieved academic growth in ELA and math, forged new partnerships within the community, and established a pattern of open communication with our families! As great as the last school year was for Alpharetta Elementary, the 2019-20 school year will be even more successful! To achieve this goal, your continued help and support will be key. Please continue to seek out ways to support your children and our school as well as participate and collaborate in the variety of events and opportunities available throughout the school year.

I am truly humbled, honored, and proud to have the privilege of serving our students, staff, families, and community in ensuring all our students reach their full potential. Let's have another remarkable year of achieving excellence and success!
