Test Scores

ITBS Results

All 3rd and 5th grade student scores from last October's Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) were sent home recently. I am proud to inform you that, once again, Barnwell students did very well! Both our 3rd and 5th grade students scored among the top in our school district; higher by nearly 30% over the national average and 20% over the Fulton County average.

As a norm-referenced test, the median score for students throughout the country is a 50% and scores between 25% and 75% are considered within the “normal” range. To view results from all schools in Fulton County (grades 3, 5 and 8) click here: ITBS Results

Georgia Milestones Overview

Georgia's Department of Education recently released state and school level results from the 2014-15 Georgia Milestones Assessment administered last Spring (click here for state level results). Test results place students into one of four categories based on their performance:

Level 1: Beginning Learners (do not yet demonstrate proficiency)

Level 2: Developing Learners (demonstrate partial proficiency)

Level 3: Proficient Learners (demonstrate proficiency)

Level 4: Distinguished Learners (demonstrate advanced proficiency)

It is expected that students score in levels 2, 3, or 4 to be considered on track for college and career readiness.

Overall, Barnwell students performed very well, as demonstrated in the following tables (with Fulton County, our Northeast Learning Community and Georgia percentages included). The first number is the percentage of students scoring in Levels 2, 3 and 4 combined (partial to advanced proficiency) while the second number is the percentage of students scoring in Levels 3 and 4(proficient or advanced proficiency). For example, in 3rd grade ELA at Barnwell 93% of our students scored in Levels 2, 3 and 4, while 73% scored in Levels 3 and 4.
