The Alliance for a Healthier Generation works to address one of the nation’s leading public health threats—childhood obesity. The goal of the Alliance is to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity by 2015, and to empower kids nationwide to make healthy lifestyle choices. Founded in 2005 by the American Heart Association and William J. Clinton Foundation, the Alliance works to positively affect the places that can make a difference in a child’s health: homes, schools, doctor’s offices, and communities.

Health & Wellness Tips
Eat more vegetables and fresh fruits. Aim for a total of 2 cups of fruit and 2 1/2 cups of vegetables every day.
Serve food in smaller portions. Do not demand or reward “a clean plate.” Let your child ask for more if he or she is still hungry.
Use an exercise machine or lift weights while watching television.
Eat only at the kitchen table. Don't drive, watch television or talk on the phone while you eat.
This helps you focus on how much you are eating, which can prevent overeating.
Eat only until you're not hungry and push the plate away. Don't stuff yourself.
