Letter from Ms. Cassidy, Principal, about School Safety
We are looking forward to the new school year and the return of our students! We will resume our routine operation at Esther Jackson with regular patrols from Fulton Schools Police and Roswell Police Department.
As you know, Esther Jackson has well-established processes that help us account for our students and know when an unwelcomed visitor is on campus. It is our hope that these processes will help us recognize a potential threat and make adjustments to maintain student safety.
1. All visitors must sign in and wear a yellow visitor’s badge. During a typical school day, staff monitors this process and only allows visits from parents and/or family/ friends who are listed as emergency contacts. Visits are allowed for a designated amount of time. Classroom observations are scheduled in advance and the visitor is often accompanied by a staff member. In addition, we restrict visitor access to the building and/or beyond the lobby if we believe it is in the best interest of our students.
2. All parents carry a yellow pick up ticket when they come on campus during dismissal. From a distance, we can see if we have an unexpected visitor. Our pick up tickets are large and bulky for this reason. Parents, we need your help with this. Sometimes our parents get frustrated with this process. Please help us by reminding them that if we didn’t have this process ALL parents would have to enter our campus by vehicle and remain in their vehicle.
Please call us if you have questions or concerns. The safety of students and staff is always our #1 priority.
Jennifer Cassidy, Principal
