Heards Ferry Elementary Carpool Reminders
- Slow Down and Do Not Pass Other Vehicles
- Refrain From Cell Phone Usage While in the Carpool Line
- Children Should Enter and Exit the Vehicle on the Right

Morning Arrival

• Carpool begins at 7:15am. Children are not permitted to be dropped off before 7:15 a.m.
• If you arrive after the bell rings at 7:40, you will need to park your car and walk in with your child to sign in as they will be considered tardy.
• Only unload students at designated stops.  Ask for assistance from a staff member if your child needs help exiting the vehicle. Do not exit your vehicle at any time while in the carpool line.
• Remain in a single file line close to the curb at all times.  Allow busses to enter the bus unloading area.
• Pull forward to the farthest sign to drop students off in the morning. 
• Have your child prepared to get out of the car as quickly as possible.  If your child needs assistance carrying projects or other large items into school, please either park the car and walk the student into school; or unload the student as directed then park the car and deliver the large items to the building. The staff will not deliver projects into school during carpool.
• Once your student has been dropped off, please go to the turn around as directed by a staff member.
   

Afternoon Dismissal

• You MUST have a HFE hang tag on your rear view mirror in order to pick up your children from the afternoon carpool line.  If you do not have the HFE hang tag, you must park your car and enter the building to check out your children.  There will be no exceptions to this rule. 
• This tag is your family’s number during your entire tenure at HFE. Please do not throw it away at year end.
• The buses begin loading at 2:20 p.m. Once loading is complete, carpool will begin (usually around 2:35 - 2:40 p.m.)
• Teach your children their carpool number.  They will keep this number for their entire tenure at HFE.  As you are approaching the building, a staff member will call your carpool number (hanging from your rear view mirror) and direct your child to one of the carpool signs. 
• Pull forward to the farthest possible carpool sign at which time your child will board. Please only pick up at a designated stop.  Do not pass other cars in the carpool line, unless directed to by a staff member.
• If you have a change of dismissal for a day, please fill out a Change of Dismissal form or send a note to the front office with your child.
