School Hours: 7:40-2:20
Students may not arrive before 7:10.
Please mark your calendars for October 7th and January 17th as the Heards Ferry students will not be in school on those two days. These two days are connected to an already scheduled Fulton County break. As a reminder, our school applied for an RFF (Request for Flexibility) to have two professional learning days for our teachers. Our entire team will be in training during those two days when your children are not in school. Our new after school program, Generation Infocus will be offering on-site childcare services on those two days for any families that are interested. More information from Generation Infocus will come at a later date.
Just a reminder...students will be having a long weekend from October 7-11. October 7th will be an RFF day (see note above). October 10th and 11th are Teacher Work Days. Students will return on Wednesday, October 12th. Teachers will be attending trainings these days!
Testing Information for 3rd and 5th Grade
The Fulton County Schools Assessment Department is pleased to announce that we are moving to a new norm referenced test this school year. Fulton County students have taken the ITBS Form A as part of Fulton County's balanced assessment plan for many years. ITBS Form A was published 15 years ago with content from approximately 1995 and has ten year old norms. In October, students in grades 3, 5, and 8 will be taking the Iowa Assessment Form E. Students will take the test online and schools will receive student level results in a usable electronic format within 5 business days. This school year will become a baseline year for trend purposes. To accommodate online testing and to allow schools flexibility, the testing window is expanded to October 17th through November 4th. Heards Ferry ES will develop our schedule in this window and will inform parents of specific dates as more information and communication materials become available in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, please contact our testing coordinator, Stephanie Haga.

SB-10 In-District Transfer Application Process
As a provision of the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Program (GSNSP), parents of students with disabilities who receive special education services may choose to transfer their child to another public school in Fulton County. Parents can request a transfer to another public school as long as there is available space at that school and the school has a program with the services agreed to in the student's existing individualized education program. Please click here for more information about the GSNSP in Fulton County schools and to access the online application form. The application window is March 1-May 1, 2016. Questions may be directed to the Services for Exceptional Children department at firstname.lastname@example.org
