SB-10 In- District Transfer

SUBJECT:  SB-10 In-district transfer application for students with disabilities

ACTION:   Please post to your school website

Under a state law passed by the Georgia State Legislature in 2007, often referred to as Senate Bill 10 (SB-10) or the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship (GSNS), parents of students who receive special education may choose to transfer their child to another public school within our district or a private school in Georgia.  This year the application window is March 1-May 1, 2018 and uses an automated application process.   If you have questions, please contact your SEC learning community coordinator.

Please post the following to your school webpage as notification of this process to parents:

SB-10 In-District Transfer Application Process

As a provision of the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Program (GSNSP), parents of students with disabilities who receive special education services may choose to transfer their child to another public school in Fulton County. Parents can request a transfer to another public school as long as there is available space at that school and the school has a program with the services agreed to in the student's existing individualized education program.   Please click here for more information about the GSNSP in Fulton County schools and to access the online application form.  The application window is March 1-May 1, 2018.  Questions may be directed to the Services for Exceptional Children department at servicesforexceptionalchildren@fultonschools.org
