HEARDS FERRY ELEMENTARY OFFICIALLY AN IB WORLD SCHOOL
Heards Ferry Elementary is eager to announce we are officially recognized as an International Baccalaureate World School!!!! Our mission is to develop self-motivated, globally minded thinkers through inquiry and reflection. We developed strategically a program of inquiry that enables students to take responsibility for their learning, think critically and become empowered to take action in the community. The Character Education program, Cookies for Character, was developed to encourage students to exhibit the attributes of the learner profile. The attributes of the learner profile are Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, and Reflective. We are proud to offer Spanish as a second language to students in grades 1-5. We believe this program is an essential step towards developing compassionate, lifelong learners to help the world become a more peaceful place!
We would like to also congratulate High Point Elementary and Lake Forest Elementary for also becoming authorized IB World Schools. All three schools feed into and Ridgeview Middle School and Riverwood High School. This creates the first PK-12 Feeder Pattern IB Cluster in Fulton County Schools.
We would like to thank all stakeholders for your enthusiasm, dedication, support! It takes a village!
Celebrating Black History
We are excited to announce that HFE will be celebrating Black History during the month of February. It is an opportunity to honor the legacy of influential African Americans who shaped the course of history and made our country great. It is also enables teachers and staff to enhance student knowledge regarding the many triumphs and struggles of African Americans throughout U.S. history. Students will learn about respect, equality and unity. Students will be inquiring about various people and displaying the research in the school lobby. We are proud to announce that the Uruhu Dancers will perform for students on Feb. 20th. They are an Atlanta based organization with a goal to develop and educate the community through African culture, dance, music and song. We look forward to this wonderful experience. #peacelove&unityatHFE
