Cathy Sparks

I am a committed parent to three students that attend Hembree Springs Elementary school.  I am active with the school (Volunteering) and community (Cub Scouts) and an advocate for parental involvement to support our children in the community. They will shape the future of our world and will impact future generations.  Involvement is key to commitment and dedication, both qualities are important to drive improvement. My philosophy is based on a servant leadership model.  I would like to help our school expand on our greatest strengths and fulfill the greatest needs.  I have experience in working with a variety of customers/partners throughout my 30 year career in management. I would like to use my leadership skills to support Hembree Springs Elementary and participate on the School Governance Council as a parent/guardian candidate.

Jose Velarde

Hello Voting Council,   My name is Jose Velarde and want to nominate myself for Hembree Springs Elementary School Governance Council.  I feel I can be a great asset on the School Governance Council due to my experience and qualifications.  As a former tax accountant with much experience in analyzing financial documents I can add expertise in the budgeting and planning area.  I have built a rapport with many students being a long-term substitute at Hembree Springs.  I also have two sons enrolled here so I have a sincere interest the school is productively and efficiently managed.  My educational background includes a bachelors degree in accounting and a masters degree in taxation from Georgia State University.

Thank you, Jose Velarde

Kathryn Walker

Last summer (2018), I moved to Georgia from North Carolina where I worked for 13 years in the learning center at Guilford College. I have been involved in my children's schools since they were in preschool. I volunteer in the media center and in both my children's classrooms and would like to become more involved at Hembree Springs.

Tamara Smolyansky

I've served previously on the PTA board and was the grade level chair for kindergarten through second grade. I love our students and our school, and I feel like involvement and communication are the keys to success.
