In addition to classroom guidance lessons and small groups, the counselor is also available to meet with students individually as needed. Individual counseling is a process where students discuss issues in a safe, positive, and confidential setting for a limited time.
Topics are based on the needs of the students and may include: feelings, changing families, peer pressure, friends, stress, academics, social skills, getting along with others, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Students who would like to meet individually with the counselor can write a note and place it in the counselor’s mail bag. Teachers, parents, and other school staff may also request that the counselor meet with a student individually.
