A Message from Stacy Perlman, Principal
Welcome to Mountain Park Elementary School! We hope you find our website helpful in learning about our school. Mountain Park is an amazing place to learn and grow. It is an honor to serve as the principal of MPE, a 2003 and 2013 National Blue Ribbon School!
Our mission statement is Learn to Think! Think to Learn! We believe in helping students develop higher level thinking skills to become life-long learners and problem-solvers. As part of our emphasis on critical thinking and real-life problem solving our students participate in Project Based Learning daily in science and social studies. Our Project Based Learning units bring Talented and Gifted strategies and hands-on, fun learning to all students.
We are excited to utilize the Design Thinking Process to solve problems at our school and in our classrooms. We are a part of the Atlanta K-12 Design Challenge and have had the opportunity to learn from Scott Sanchez, of the Stanford dSchool. We are honored to participate in AK12DC with other public and independent schools, in partnership with The Lovett School and The Westminster Schools. Design Thinking has opened doors for our staff and students and deepened many learning experiences at Mountain Park.
It has been my pleasure to be the principal of Mountain Park Elementary since 2007. I am also a proud parent at our school and my daughter will be in 3rd grade this year. Prior to coming to Mountain Park, I worked as a teacher, Curriculum Support Teacher (CST) and Assistant Principal with the Fulton County School System. I grew up in Orlando, Florida and received my B.A and M.Ed. in Elementary Education from the University of Florida – Go Gators! Living and working in the heart of Bulldog country for 27 years has strengthened my commitment to being an SEC fan in general.
On a visit to Mountain Park you will surely notice many special things - the warm and friendly atmosphere, our bright, creative and inquisitive students, our dedicated teachers and staff, our supportive and involved parents, and the meaningful, hands-on learning taking place. We are very proud of our students' success and accomplishments and we look forward to another stellar year!
The students, staff, parents and administration look forward to continuing to build on the tradition of excellence at Mountain Park Elementary! Please feel free to contact us for more information or to arrange a visit. Tours are offered every Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. and upon request.
