School Governance Council Election
Mountain Park Elementary will be electing new representatives to serve on the School Governance Council. There is one parent/guardian position and one teacher position open for election this spring. Our School Governance Council has a leadership role in the governance of our school. The Council works with the principal on the long-term vision and strategy for the school. They are responsible for approving the school's strategic plan and budget recommendations, as well as design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement and meet the unique needs of our school community. This past year, our Council worked diligently to submit and receive approval for two requests for flexibility to:
Elections for the parent/guardian and teacher position on the School Governance Council will be held May 13th – 15th. Candidates interested in running for an elected position on the Council must complete a candidate declaration form and submit to the district office by April 25th!
Candidate forms may be submitted electronically (click appropriate link below, complete form and click "submit") or by mail (get a copy of the form from the school's front office and follow mailing instructions on the back of the form). Congratulations to MPE's 2014 Teacher of the Year, Ashley Polito and MPE's Employee of the Year, MariClaire Blackburn! Mrs. Polito and Mrs. Blackburn will go on to represent MPE at the district level competition. The Teacher of the Year Finalists were: Robyn Levine (Preschool Special Needs) and Sara Clark (Music). The Employee of the Year Finalists were: Susan Loomer (front office), Meg Schreiber (Special Education Paraprofessional) Congratulations!
Waste-Free Wednesdays are here! If your child brings lunch from home, please pack reusable containers for food, refillable drink bottles, cloth napkins and reusable utensils. If your child buys lunch, encourage them to eat what they put on their tray. Recycling is available and volunteers will help teach students about waste-free lunches.
