 School Governance Council Elections

MPE will be electing one parent and one teacher representative to serve on the School Governance Council.  Our School Governance Council has a leadership role in the governance of the school. The Council works with the administrationl in setting the long-term vision and strategy for the school. They are responsible for approving the school’s strategic plan and budget recommendations, as well as designing innovative solutions to increase academic achievement and meet the unique needs of our school community.

Elections for the parent/guardian and teacher positions on the School Governance Council will be held March 19th-March 23rd. Candidates interested in running for an elected position on the Council must complete a candidate declaration form and submit by February 23rd.

Candidate forms may be submitted electronically or by mail (get a copy of the form from the school’s front office and follow mailing instructions on the back of the form). Click on the links below for more information.

  1. Lia Bertelson

I have enjoyed serving on the SGC since last year, and as the Chair this year I feel I am only now beginning to meaningfully contribute. Over the past two years, I have enjoyed seeing the design thinking process in action as we consider needs of our students. With parents, teachers, administrators, and community members coming together to assess needs and consider potential solutions, we are able to creatively and effectively address opportunities. As a council, we are near completion of our new strategic plan, which will align with that of Fulton County Schools for 2018-2022. Our objectives in Student Achievement, People and Culture, Community Collaboration, and Fiscal Responsibility will guide us as we continue to excel in each area. We have many reasons to celebrate our success at Mountain Park, but as a council we continually strive to fine tune and improve. We are connecting more often with councils from other schools in the Roswell High School cluster, and we are forming relationships and engaging in dialogue that will benefit students by further aligning school goals and initiatives.  My children are in kindergarten and third grade, so I am still near the beginning of my time here. I would like to serve on the SGC for another term.

  1. Rima Granados

My teaching career began in '97 following an M.S. in education from Hofstra University in NY.  From my former years in professional theater, I aim to bring some interactive, creative elements into the classroom. This is my 5th year at MPE. I hope to bring another perspective to the SGC discussions, as both a current teacher and former MPE parent.

Georgia Parent Survey

Please take a few minutes to complete our Georgia Parent Survey.  This survey helps determine our STAR Climate Rating, which impacts our school score, and our ratings on Zillow...think property value. We were thrilled to receive a 5-Star Climate (the highest) Rating last year. Thank you! We appreciate your time and attention to this!

This summer, MPE was featured in a video for AK12DC (the Atlanta K-12 Design Challenge) for our work with design thinking. Please take a minute to watch it
