Please note that CRCT testing for grades 3, 4 and 5 will begin on Tuesday, April 22, and go through Monday, April 28. We ask that NO visitors attend during those days (even lunch guests). The whole school is impacted by testing and we want to keep a quiet, protected environment on all testing days.

School Governance Council Election

Mountain Park Elementary will be electing new representatives to serve on the School Governance Council.  There is one parent/guardian position and one teacher position open for election this spring.  Our School Governance Council has a leadership role in the governance of our school. The Council works with the principal on the long-term vision and strategy for the school. They are responsible for approving the school's strategic plan and budget recommendations, as well as design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement and meet the unique needs of our school community. This past year, our Council worked diligently to submit and receive approval for two requests for flexibility to:

  • Provide two student release days for teacher/staff professional development next year

  • Change from the Resource Model for Talented and Gifted Services to an Advanced Studies Model (50 minutes per day as opposed to 250 0r 220 minutes per week).
  • Receive almost $150,000 in Seed Fund money from the Fulton Education Foundation to support these initiatives.

Elections for the parent/guardian and teacher position on the School Governance Council will be held May 13th – 15th. Candidates interested in running for an elected position on the Council must complete a candidate declaration form and submit to the district office by April 25th!

Candidate forms may be submitted electronically (click appropriate link below, complete form and click "submit") or by mail (get a copy of the form from the school's front office and follow mailing instructions on the back of the form).   For additional information on our School Governance Councils and elections, view our School Governance Council webpage (insert link) or read the School Governance Council Candidate Guide below.
