We will be administering the IOWA to all 3rd and 5th grade students Sept. 18-20 and Sept. 25-26.  This is a change from the original published testing dates.  The county allowed us some flexibility with the testing dates, and we made a change to best suit our community’s needs.

  • Monday, Sept. 18 – Reading Sections 1 and 2

  • Tuesday, Sept. 19 – Math Sections 1 and 2

  • Wednesday, Sept. 20 – Computation and Written Expression

  • Monday, Sept. 25 – Vocabulary, Capitalization and Social Studies

  • Tuesday, Sept. 26 – Science, Spelling and Punctuation

The IOWA is a norm-referenced test.  Norm-referenced tests compare a child's score against the scores of a group of children in the same grade and who took the test at the same point in the school year.  Basically, this assessment gives us an idea of how our students are performing academically compared to other students across the nation.  Please help your children by ensuring they get a good night's rest all week and eat a well-balanced breakfast.  This will help get students in the right frame of mind for the assessment.  Also, please ensure that your child arrives to school on time (in class by 7:40 AM).  We want to make sure students have plenty of time to get organized and ready prior to the start of the administration.

Similar to last year, Fulton County will administer the IOWA online. This is great news because it will give students an online experience before the spring Milestones, and there is a quicker turn-around to receive our results.  To best utilize our resources, we will be using both computer labs, so we will need all visitors to help us ensure an optimal testing environment by only going to their intended destination and remaining silent in the hallways.

Thank you, as always, for your cooperation to help our students shine!
