After School Programs
Chorus is a performing group for 4th and 5th graders who enjoy singing. Students will learn about using correct choral singing techniques, performance techniques, music reading, sight singing, music styles and music history. This group will have 2 performances during the school year (afterschool-registration required with music teacher).
Our Northwood Art Club is a small group of 4th and 5th graders working with various art media and techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture. Our focus is to extend learning beyond the scheduled weekly art time and provide students a chance to explore and discover their creative ideas. Art club is driven by the group's goals and interests to give participants a chance to connect with their inner artists (afterschool- registration required with art teacher).
Get Fit Club
Circuit training is offered to all students 7:10 am -7:40 am (Monday & Thursday Grades K,1,2 – Tuesday & Friday Grades 3,4,5, Friday-registration required with PE teacher). Latest Report Time: 7:20 AM
Open computer lab math practice offered to all students 7:10 am -7:40 am (3rd grade Monday, 2nd grade Tuesday and Thursday, 1st grade Wednesday, 4th and 5th Friday)
Small group teacher led instruction (teacher recommendation required).
The reading bowl team is a competitive group of students coached by Ms. Campbell and Ms. Beck. Students compete with other schools in a question based format on the content of 18 Georgia Book Award Nominees. Students meet every Friday during lunch. It is only for 5th grade students.
Elite Explorer Club
Is a school-based organization formed to recognize and encourage scholastic achievement, character development, and community service. Northwood Elementary School has established baseline criteria for participation in this club. To receive an invitation, students had to achieve an A average AND be recommended by their teachers as a leader in all aspects of the school day.
