Matt DonohoeRiver Eves Families,

For those of you that do not already know me, my name is Matthew Donahoe, and I will be taking over the principal’s role for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.  I am exceptionally excited to be returning to my initial Fulton County “home” after leaving River Eves a year and half ago to take over as the assistant principal at Hillside Elementary, which is just on the other side of Holcomb Bridge Road (next to Centennial High School).

In my opinion, there is no place like River Eves!  The tradition of excellence, in terms of student progress and achievement, as well as the uniquely-positive culture is second to none; it is a great place for students, parents, families, and staff alike!  I am very proud to have been an active participant in the development of the current culture and am very much looking forward to further solidifying these areas that make our school a very special place to work, play, feel valued, appreciated, and experience a true sense of community and belonging.

To provide you with some background, over the past four years, I have served as an assistant principal (in Fulton County Schools) at River Eves Elementary & Hillside Elementary.  I have acquired nine total years of AP leadership experience in three separate Atlanta area school districts.  Prior to that, I taught at the elementary-level for a total of 12 years.  My first ten years were spent teaching 4th & 5th grade-aged students in my home state of Indiana.  After moving to the state of Georgia, eleven years ago, I served as an EIP teacher for two years before transitioning into my current administrative career.  I am entering my 22nd year as a professional educator; how time flies when you are having fun and enjoying the ride!

I was born and raised in Southern Indiana about 20 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (1995) from Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, Indiana.  Master of Education (2002) and Leadership Certification (2007) status were accomplished via Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.  I am married, am the proud parent of an 8-year old daughter, and reside in Decatur, GA.

I look forward to working alongside our families throughout the upcoming school year to support the academic & social/emotional well-being of your children.
