Welcome to Shakerag Ms. Nusnbaum!
We hope everyone is enjoying their summer! I just wanted to pass on a special announcement... Please join me in welcoming our new Assistant Principal, Ms. Erin Nusnbaum. Ms. Nusnbaum was approved to join the Shakerag family at the June 22 board meeting. She comes to us with 10 years of experience in education, all of which have been with Fulton County in the Northeast Learning Community. As a former elementary classroom teacher and administrative assistant, Ms. Nusnbaum has a lot to contribute to our already amazing learning community. Ms. Nusnbaum will begin her journey as a Shark on July 17.

_______________________________________________Remembering Coach Cooper
The outpouring of love and support during this difficult time has been absolutely amazing! As a community, we continue to gather ideas and suggestions on how we can celebrate and honor Coach Cooper in a way that would make him proud. At this time, we are planning to dedicate our annual Heart Walk in his honor. We hope to finalize our plans over the summer and into the beginning of next school year so that in the fall we can all celebrate the joy Coach Cooper brought to so many. Please watch our website as we will post the exact details as soon as they are finalized.
_______________________________________________2017-2018 School Year Calendar
We are so excited for another great year to begin! Please click here to review the 2017-2018 school calendar for Shakerag Elementary. Our
school calendar is slightly different from the original Fulton County school
calendar. Our students will also be out on September 5, November 27,
February 20 and March 30 so our teachers can engage in additional
professional development opportunities.
_______________________________________________Shakerag Volunteer Registration
To keep in compliance with State Law and best practices, for the 2017-2018 school year, we will require that all persons interested in volunteering in the Fulton County School District to re-register/register (even if a person has completed an application in the past) by completing the new online volunteer registration/application process. The registration process can be found on the FCS District Website under Community/Partners & Volunteers or Click Here. Applicants should be prepared to spend about 10-15 minutes for the training and application process. In accordance with State Law, all volunteers must be current with the Child Abuse Reporting Protocol Training before being allowed to volunteer in our schools. It is very important that volunteers enter their full legal name as it appears on their government issued ID (please do not use nicknames or "goes by" names on the application). All applicants must wait 24 hours after applying for application processing and approval.
As part of our move towards Personalized Learning, we will be teaching all our students how to use the Internet safely, ethically, and responsibly. Visit Common Sense Media for tools that you can use at home to further support these goals.
Shakerag is part of Fulton County's first group of schools working towards the goal of Personalized Learning for our students. We are excited to begin the work of transforming education to help challenge and engage students for the 21st century.
