Congratulations to Derrick Hazelwood for being our Volunteer of the Year! Mr. Hazelwood has two children attending S.L. Lewis Elementary School and has been very active since their enrollment. Mr. Hazelwood is a great and dependable parent volunteer. He is the current PTA President and has helped to implement the All Pro Dad program at S.L. Lewis. This program encourages family engagement, fosters mentorship and charges men to be leaders. Mr. Hazelwood serves as our team captain and facilitates the sessions. He provides guidance and tips for dads to love and lead their families. The program encourages students to come to school on time and they look forward to spending that time with their dads. Homework assignments are usually assigned and have to be completed before the next meeting. Above all, he is an outstanding leader.

Mr. Hazelwood has made a difference in the lives of students and staff here at S.L. Lewis. We cannot imagine a candidate more deserving of this honor.
