The mission of the State Bridge Crossing Elementary School library media program is to supply the resources necessary to support all areas of instruction while instilling in students the desire to read varied types of materials for pleasure. The media center meets the curriculum needs of students and teachers by offering the necessary print, nonprint, and technology tools needed to develop independent and effective users of information. A wide range of media is offered by the media center with the purpose of creating students who become lifelong learners and who possess a lasting love for reading.
Th school’s library media program also provides a framework for cooperatively planned, instructionally related, unified media services which are accessible to teachers and students. The framework of the media center program is composed of materials, equipment, facilities, people, environment, purposes and processes. Within this framework, the goals of the State Bridge Media Center are to provide a collection that meets the needs of the school curriculum and interests of the student population, to provide an instructional program that fosters competence in accessing, evaluating and using information, and to provide programs that will encourage students to read for recreational purposes.
