Husky Tech Talk:

There is a lot of learning going on in the computer lab. Our typing programs give students hands on exercise to prepare them for their assignments that will be printed from the computer. We also have curriculum programs and games that give students the chance to put into practice that which they learned in the classroom.

Our more creative days have been spent working on seasonal projects that included carving a virtual pumpkin and stepping aboard the Mayflower.

The older grades work in Microsoft Office Word regularly and this includes the use of Clip Art. They are looking forward to PowerPoint projects next semester. We are very fortunate to have access to IXL, Study Island and SpellingCity.

Summit Hill is lucky enough to have seven color laser printers for each grade level as well as 20 other laser printers throughout the school. We continue to add to the 12 Promethean Boards which are a wonderful teaching tool and teachers have the ability to teach in the classroom with laptops from our wireless laptop classroom cart. This year, we are proud to add 11 Mimio's as a teaching tool. They are installed in some of our 3rd grade classrooms, IRR rooms as well as the Art room.

Thanks to our Summit Hill Foundation, we now have one iPad cart with 30 iPads. We are focusing our work for next year to align with our school improvement goals and our mission, vision and value statement.

We encourage the students to learn something new every time they enter the lab. It might be something new on the keyboard itself or an educational game on a new program. It might be while they are taking a virtual trip on a travel website. There is so much to learn!
