Greetings Summit Hill Elementary School Family,
My name is Lorrie Bearden and I am so excited to join the staff of Summit Hill Elementary as your new Principal. I'm very passionate about students and I look forward to partnering with you to provide our students with a rigorous, engaging, and high-quality school experience. As the parent of three, I recognize and understand the importance of a strong home-school connection. Parents are every child's first teacher and, as your educational partner, I am committed to ensuring that your child's social, emotional, and academic needs are met each and every year. Together, we will cultivate and nurture SHE scholars.
Over the past 23 years, I have served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles, primarily with Fulton County Schools. As a brief overview, I worked twelve years as a math teacher, five years as a teacher leader, two years in high school administration, and six years as a middle school assistant principal. My variety of educational experiences have thoroughly prepared me to lead SHE and I am thrilled about our future!
My academic background includes a Bachelor's of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education, a Masters of Education, a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate of Education. Since 1992, I have enthusiastically dedicated myself to work with students, staff, and parents; likewise, I am excited and honored to begin this next chapter of my leadership journey as principal with the students, staff, and parents of Summit Hill Elementary School.
I strongly believe that great schools are the results of great teachers using great instructional strategies; therefore, my primary objective will be to ensure that every student is receiving high-quality instruction in every classroom at SHE. To do this, I will be providing teachers with access to top quality professional development and observations of instruction, which includes frequent and consistent feedback. In addition, I, along with my staff will be reaching out to parents for support with academic and behavioral concerns to ensure our students are well prepared to advance each year, exhibiting confidence and great character.
I will be working closely with our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Burns, and all staff at SHE, to guarantee that each child is intellectually challenged, has opportunities to develop the habits of Leaders and Me, and always has access to the social and emotional support needed. Please join me and get involved with the SHE Parent-Teacher Organization to ensure that your voices are heard and always feel free to email any time at BeardenL@fultonschools.org.
Looking forward to meeting you!
Dr. Lorrie Bearden, Principal
