William W. Bradley
Principal
Education: Mr. Bradley is originally from Vero Beach, Florida. The son of a minister and farmer and a mother who are the proud parents of sixteen children, Mr. Bradley understands the importance and value of a solid education. Mr. Bradley was raised in a home that valued education, sustained hard work, best effort, honesty, integrity, fairness, firmness, and respect.
His educational experiences have provided him with opportunities to lead. In high school, he was president of his junior and senior class. In college, at Furman University, he was Coordinator for Collegiate Educational Service Corp, an officer in Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity, and involved in student government. After graduation from Furman, Mr. Bradley earned a Master of Education Degree in Administration and Supervision from the State University at West Georgia and a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from the John Marshall Law School.
Professional Experience: Mr. Bradley has served Fulton County Schools, officially, in several capacities for more than 22 years. He began his career in Fulton as a substitute teacher. He has taught high school, served as a remediation coordinator, served as an assistant principal at the elementary and middle grade levels, and has moved a school from the brink of restructuring to one of choice as a middle school principal. Mr. Bradley has served the education community at large by serving on numerous panels, committees, and has lead several initiatives to improve teacher quality, pedagogical skills, and retention. He is a member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals, The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, The Georgia Association of Educational Leaders, Georgia Association of Middle School Principals, and is a founding member of the National Professional Development Schools. He has made professional development presentations locally and nationally. At the time of Mr. Bradley’s departure from the middle school principalship, he had initiated a project, with Georgia State University, NCTAF, and the State Board of Regents, to create an ideal middle school in the Fulton County School System with support from several agencies and funding sources of national repute.
Hobbies & Interests: Mr. Bradley spends his personal time with his family which includes his wife, who is also an educator, and his two children. He enjoys physical activity, gardening, reading, cooking, singing, writing, supporting a senior citizen, and sports.
Jason Ross
Assistant Principal
Education: Mr. Ross is a native of Chicago, IL. Mr. Ross received his Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education Degree from Morehouse College, his Master of Education in Educational Leadership Degree from Kennesaw State University, and his Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University.
Professional Experience: Mr. Ross brings 15 years of educational experience to Banneker High School. Mr. Ross has served as an elementary school educator for 7 years, a K-8 math coordinator for 2 years, a middle school assistant principal for 3 years, and a high school assistant principal for 3 years. Mr. Ross is going into his fourth year as assistant principal of Banneker.
Hobbies & Interests: Mr. Ross enjoys traveling, music, sports, teaching, learning, and attending extracurricular activities that involve his two children.
Tracie Y. Colton-Astin
Assistant Principal
Education: As a native Atlantan, Mrs. Tracie Y. Astin attended Fulton County and Atlanta Schools and has a dual degree in English & History Secondary Education from Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama, and a Master of Education and Educational Specialist Degree in Administration & Supervision from the University of West Georgia.
Professional Experience: Mrs. Astin was an English & Language Arts teacher in Fulton County School System for eight (8) years at a school where she was once a student. As a teacher, Mrs. Astin served in a variety of roles and was a part of the total school program. Thereafter, Mrs. Astin served in a variety of leadership support roles as Curriculum Support and Leadership Support Specialist for five years (5) in Atlanta Public Schools. She has a wide-range of leadership experience and a strong instructional background in supporting teaching and learning.
Hobbies & Interests: Mrs. Astin adores time with her husband, new daughter, and immediate family; she also enjoys reading, writing, and event planning.
Curt Green
Assistant Principal
Education: Mr. Green is a graduate of Louisiana State University where he earned a bachelor of general studies degree with an emphasis in social sciences. He has two master's degrees from the University of Alaska-Anchorage in teaching secondary social studies and public school administration (K-12). Currently, Mr. Green is a doctoral candidate at St. John's University, Queens NY researching effective schools and social emotional learning for boys of color.
Professional Experience: Curt R. Green brings to Banneker High School more than 10 years of middle and high school administrative experience as an instructional leader. Most recently, he served in the Normandy School District as the principal of Normandy High School. Normandy High School is located in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to joining Normandy School District, Green served two years as the founding principal of the B.E.S.T. Academy in the Atlanta Public Schools. Under his leadership, students were exposed to a college preparatory curriculum including advanced placement, dual-enrollment college level courses, career pathways and social emotional learning.
