" Banneker Trojans  Are 6-AAAAA Champs"

Dear Banneker High School Alumni and Friends,

This past weekend, our Mighty Trojans football team defeated North Springs High School by a score of 25-7.  The victory secured our first ever Region 6-AAAAA championship - the highest classification that Banneker has ever competed in.

Banneker now stands at 8-1 on the season, with our only defeat coming from Hillgrove High School who is currently undefeated and ranked 5th in AAAAAAA - two classes higher than Banneker.  Our season finale and Senior night will be this coming Friday versus Grady High School.  Banneker is a heavy favorite in that game and a victory would secure our second 9-win season in school history.

Please also note that with our recent victory, we are assured of our second consecutive playoff birth and will host a first round playoff game in just a couple of weeks.  As we look to make a deep run into the state playoffs, we ask that you come out and support the Trojan football team, band, and cheer squad.

These are high times at Banneker High School!  Thanks for your continued support!

Take care,

Dr. Bradley

BHS Apply To College Week

In keeping with Governor Nathan Deal's proclamation of the month of November as Georgia Apply to College (GAC) Month, Banneker joined other high schools throughout Georgia in hosting GAC events which provided seniors with the opportunity to use dedicated class time to learn more about the college application process and to complete college applications.

The BHS Apply to College event was presented by the counseling department and held in the media center November 14-16.  Nearly 200 seniors had a chance to speak with representatives from postsecondary institutions, participate in career exploration, and learn about scholarship research.  Community volunteers, including students from Spelman and Morehouse, were on hand to assist students as they navigated through the college application process.  Ms. Tina Criss, Banneker's Media & Educational Technology Instructor, who co-hosted the event, was joined by Mr. Ronald Brown and Ms. Michelle Bennett of the South Fulton branch of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library as the trio provided valuable college, career, and scholarship research information.
