Dress Code 101: Dress for Success:
Fulton County School System’s Discipline Code of Conduct: Rule 12: Students in the school system are expected to dress and groom themselves in such a way as to reflect neatness, cleanliness and safety. All students shall dress appropriately so as not to disrupt or interfere with the educational program or the orderly operation of the school.
Students cannot wear clothing that is:
- too tight, too short, or too revealing
- endorses or advertises the use of tobacco products, alcohol, gang activity or drugs
- communicates or promotes racism, sexism or is deemed offensive or obscene by the administration
- hats or any type of headgear
- shower shoes, bedroom slippers or "footies"
- spaghetti straps, midriffs, tank tops
The school day begins at 8:00 AM.
Class attendance is required. Students can be withdrawn from class for excessive) absences.
Punctuality is required. Excessive tardies can result in disciplinary actions which include withdrawal from class.
Students are responsible for their own conduct. Any student who violates the Discipline Code of Conduct is subject to administrative withdrawal.
If you have to leave campus for any reason, you must check out in the main office.
No leaving campus to get lunch. All students must report to the cafeteria during lunch.
Book bags/backpacks are NOT allowed in the classroom
Cell phone use is prohibited during the school day (8:00a.m. - 1:30p.m.)
No visitors during school hours.
Students cannot visit the campus of other schools during the school day (trespassing).
Pick-up/drop off in front of the school ONLY.
NO SMOKING on any Fulton County School property
Food and beverages are NOT permitted in the classroom
A parking permit is $10 per mini-semester or $40 for the year. Students are to park in the IHS parking lot ONLY. Parking in unauthorized zones will result in your car being towed. No permit = car towed.
Student supply fee is $25 for the year.
Random, unannounced searches will take place throughout the school year.
Speed limit is 10 mph on campus.
Students: If you are interested in purchasing a 10-trip MARTA card at a discounted price, please stop by the main office and leave your name. The regular price is $25.50, and the discounted price is $15.40.
The Georgia Department of Education has adopted new graduation rules (see EOCT Q&A) which change the assessment requirements starting this year, affecting End-of-Course Tests.
The "Brew Crew" Coffee Shop, run by our North Metro program and students, is now open from 7:45 - 10:30 a.m. It is located on the third floor across from the Art room.
Breakfast is served between 7:25- 7:55 AM each morning in the cafeteria. The cafeteria will close at 7:55 AM. All students must be in class by 8:00 AM.

Independence High School provides the necessary school materials for every student for a fee of $25.00. All students must be prepared to pay the supply fee on the first day of school. Students will not receive their schedule until the supply fee is paid.
Each student will receive a photo ID to use in the cafeteria and Media Center in order to receive service. Lost IDs are replaced at a cost of $5.00.
Student parking is available on campus. Parking permits may be purchased for a fee of $10 per mini-semester or $40.00 per year (payable by cash or money order, only). Parking permits must be purchased on the first day of school. Any student wanting to purchase a permit must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
