The Milton Cross Country team took home the Wingfoot Cup for the second consecutive year on Saturday at the Wingfoot XC Classic in Cartersville. The Eagles earned the overall title, which was determined by overall scores in each of the varsity and junior varsity boys and girls championship races, despite not taking a team victory in any of the races.
The Lady Eagles were lead again by senior captain, Marie Repasy (10th). Freshmen Faith Bobak (18th), Abby Rindt (26th), and sophomore Taylor Cushman (28th) each had strong performances as the team finished 2nd to the nationally #2 ranked Saratoga Springs of New York and bested region rival South Forsyth as well as 15 other scoring schools!
In the boys' varsity race, juniors Sam Bowers (2nd), Michael Malkowski(13th), and Ryan Beitzell (26th) lead the team to a 3rd place finish in the championship division, just 10 points behind Blessed Trinity and two points behind Alexander HS.
The Lady Eagles again placed 2nd to Saratoga Springs, and the Boys finished2nd to South Forsyth. Top Eagle performers in the JV races included juniors Jessie Barnes (8th), Chloe Sluss (15th), senior Capri Ligon (18th), and freshman Kelly Scott (20th). The boys were led by junior Andrew Blizzard (5th), seniors Jake Vernon (6th) and Paul Rose (9th), and sophomore Will Newell (12th).
The Eagles will take a weekend off before heading to Greenville, SC to compete in the Gene Mullin Furman Invitational on Saturday, October 8.
The Milton Fencing Team is off to a great start! In the first round of tournaments this season, Co-Captain Jake Paris earned his first Bronze Medal. WAY TO GO JAKE! Co-Captain Jordan Hirsch, senior Amith Vadlamudi and sophomore Lucas Rary each scored points and advanced in the league standings. Good Job Milton Fencers.....Defend the Mpire!
The MHS Coed Competition team finished 4th in a very difficult competition this weekend at Lambert HS. The team had a great performance and demonstrated a lot of perseverance this week!
