The Fulton County Youth Commission is a Leadership Program designed to help get tomorrow's student leaders involved today! Students will become familiar with how local governments resolves youth issues and will make suggestions for the best solutions, but most importantly, hlep facilitate change.  Tonight is prom and we wish all students attending a fun and safe night. Congrats to NS for winning the $1,500 AAA Prom Safety Grant from Fulton County Youth Commission based on the great poster submissions from students in Mr. Lupiani's graphic design class.  Enjoy your celebrity entertainer tonight and DJ!

 

Boys Track is Region Runner-Up

Congrats to our Boys Track and Field team as they claimed the Runner-Up trophy at the Region Championships last night. This is the program's second consecutive year claiming this award. There were great performances from:

​Water Walk

UNICEF will be hosting a Water Walk this Sunday, April 15th at Woodland Elementary from 9:30- 11:00. We will be walking to North Springs carrying buckets filled with heavy things to simulate what women and children go through in third world countries to get water. If you are interested, please pick up a permission slip in D-223 from Mr. Zand. You can bring friends and family!

Girls Varsity Lacrosse

The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team improved their record to 7 and 2 with a win over visiting Southwest Dekalb High School. Eliza Satterfield led the team with 4 goals and 8 groundballs. Sofie Schoenrock added three goals, while Cammy Fancher and Dae Aught each scored a goal a piece. Taliyah Kind stopped 10 shots in the goal. Strong defensive play by Jaylynn Irving, Lauren Sanders, and Chamara knight ensured the win. Please come support your lady Spartans as they play again today against Lakeside High School here at 5pm! Go Spartans!

Girls and Boys Tennis

Congratulations to the girls and boys tennis team for advancing to the state playoffs. A super huge congratulations to the Girls tennis team for placing 2nd in the region tournament along with hosting the 1st round of the state playoffs next week. Congratulations for bringing home the gold.

Baseball

Students, come check out the varsity baseball game this evening at 5:55 pm as we honor all seven seniors with Senior Night. The Spartans take on Jackson, Atlanta and clinch a spot in next week's region championship series wit a win tonight. Student tickets are only $3 so come out and support the Spartans!

Spring Musical

Students! You have one more chance to see the Spring Musical, Into the Woods, this Wednesday during 6th and 7th periods. Tickets will be on sale in the commons during fifth period. You must buy your ticket in advance or you will not be allowed to attend the show! Come out and see what North Springs Theatre is all about!

Microsoft Office Certification

Attention Juniors and Seniors. If you don't want to make minimum wage on your part time or summer jobs, stop by E119 Mrs. Darden's room, to get Microsoft office certified in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. This is the actual Microsoft certification that you will receive, which you can add to your resume. Don't delay- workshops start on Tuesday April 10th, but you must register by March 30th!

Varsity Cheerleading

There will be a 10th-12th grade Varsity Cheerleading interest meeting on Tuesday April 10th at 6:00pm with the location tbd. Students and parents must attend. See Coach Jemison for further information.

CCC NOVA Southeastern

Girls Varsity Track

We are #1 in the USA!

Girls 4x400- Kayla Tolbert, Saran Kouyeth, Kennedi Weston Shields, and Jayda Drake Howard.

Saran Kouyeth broke the 200 records with 23.78 seconds!

Jayda Drake Howard won the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

The 4x100 A team took 1st place.

The 4x100 B team and 4x400 B teams came in 4th, which were Hannah Cooper, Samya Holloman Lewis, Makenzie Nation, Ashton coats, Mikayla Dunn, and Maya Dunn.

Boys Track

Congrats to the Boys Track team on a great performance at the Fulton county Championships.
Scott Fineberg placed 5th in the Discus throw. Jahvon Millard placed 7th in the long jump and Zahir Nichols placed 3rd in the triple jump. The 4x100 relay team finished 4th running a personal best 42.75 seconds. Andrew Robinson finished 3rd in the 200 running 22.16 seconds and 5th in the 400 running 50.83 seconds. School records were also broken by Jahuon Millard in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.85 seconds finishing 3rd. The best race came from the 4 by 400 relay as they shattered the school record with a time of 3:25:69. This was run by Marques Burnett, Chris Danseraux, Zahir Nichols, and Andrew Robinson. Great job guys!

Boys Lacrosse

Congratulations to Boys Lacrosse for their 12-5 win over Lakeside Dekalb. Their record is now 6 and 5. Jake Rubin had 5 goals.

FBLA

We had a great weekend at the FBLA State Conference and brought home more chapter awards than ever!

We won Georgia's 3rd Largest Chapter, Gold Superior Chapter of the Year, 7th place in Chapter of the year recognition, 2nd in Georgia for March of Dimes Fundraising, and 100% membership award for Work-Based learning.

Our students also brought home more competitive awards than ever. Nearly all of our enteries were top ten in Georgia and 16 students will be moving on to nationals this summer in Baltimore.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team for their 13-8 win over Lanier High School. Eliza Satterfield led all categories with 6 goals, 1 assist, and 9 ground balls. Dae Aught scored 4 goals, while Kate Strancer scored twice and Cammy Fancher had one goal and an assist. Goalie Taliyah king preserved the win in the goal with 9 saves.

March Madness College Week

AVID is hosting March Madness College Week beginning Monday, March 19th-23rd. Please join us in participating in the following spirit days:

Baseball

Congratulations to the varsity baseball team on their 6 to 2 victory over Decatur yesterday. Beau Foster pitched 6 and two thirds innings for the win and had two hits, including a home run. Josh Smith and Drew Wyatt also had two hits each for the Spartans.

Your Voice Matters

 Learn how to be heard with Youth Leadership Sandy Springs. You have the opportunity to explore Sandy Springs for six days during school hours! For students who will be sophomores and juniors in fall 2018, applications are available at www.leadershipsandysprings.org/ylss and are due March 22nd 2018. Students must either live or go to school in Sandy Springs. There are only 30 spots available in next year's class, so act fast!

Robotics Club

Do you like to build stuff? What about engineering and coding? As a member of Robotics Club you can participate in competitions against other schools, win scholarships, and gain experience in making real, working, robots. Robotics Club is having an interest meeting on Tuesday, March 13th in room D004.

Any student who is taking the Accuplacer test on Wednesday March 7th will need to see Ms. Pritchett by 2nd period Wednesday to pick up their hot pink pass to be allowed admittance into the test.

Boys Track

Congratulations to the boys track team this weekend at the Wolverine Invitational. It was a competitive meet and we earned medals representing North Springs. Jake Rubin earned gold in the Pole Vault. Zahir Nichols earned silver in the Triple Jump.  Jahvon Millard also finished 2nd earning silver in the 110 hurdles. Way to compete guys!

Girls Track

 Congratulations to the Girls Track Team for their 1st place finish at the Wolverine Invitational Saturday-

The 4X100 and 4X400 took 1st place by Kennedi Weston Shields, Kayla Tolbert, Saran Kouyeth, and Jayda Drake Howard. Saran took 1st in 100 and 200. Jayda Drake Howard placed 1st in Hurdlers. Ashton Coats placed 1st in 300 hurdles. Ashton Coats placed 1st in 300 hurdles. Maua Dunn placed 2nd in 400 hurdles. Mikayla Dunn placed 5th in 800. Susanna Soelberg bested jer time by 14 seconds in the 1600. Hannah Cooper placed 5th in 100. Samya Hollaman-Lewis placed 5th in 200. Kayla Tolbert placed 3rd in 400. Kennedi Weston Shields placed 3rd in 800.

Way to go!

Youth Leadership Sandy Springs
