Mission Statement

The mission of the Career and Technical Education Department is to educate and challenge students to become respectful and responsible citizens equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully communicate, problem solve, and efficiently use technology in this ever-changing global society.

Program Philosophy

The Career and Technical Education curriculum is based on the following beliefs:

•Employable skills such as planning and organizing, written and verbal communication, problem solving, technical skills and critical thinking, are crucial to the future success of the student
•Hands-on learning and the teaching of practical application of concepts promotes a deeper understanding. Assignments weave current economic conditions into lessons and highlight the relevance to the student’s world
•Exposing students to various career options while in high school expands their opportunities and better prepares them in planning for life after high school
•Focusing on written and verbal communication provides students with a safe environment to experiment and develop skills
•Using relevant examples and discussions about current realities motivates and excites students to learn more and to actively practice employable skills in a safe environment.
