Stay Connected -- Stay Informed
The school most often communicates with parents via email*
It is imperative that the school front office have accurate parent contact information not only for routine communications, but also for emergencies. Occasionally, the school sends simultaneous phone, text, and email messages. These messages can be anything from a weather or school closing notification to a reminder about an upcoming parent event.
Other than email, the school maintains two websites (RiverwoodICS.org and RiverwoodAthletics.org) containing a wealth of information.
NOTE: the school website and athletics website calendars reflect the most accurate information possible, with updates occurring almost immediately throughout the day.
Facebook (Riverwood International Charter School), Twitter (@RiverwoodICS), and Instagram (Riverwood_ICS) are another part of the school's communication strategy. Parents and students can instantly and easily keep up with the latest news via social media. Additionally, the principal, the Counseling Center, several teams, clubs, and organizations use Twitter. A Twitter list appears at the bottom of the far right column of this page.
The school publishes an electronic newsletter, The Raider Report, throughout the year. E-newsletters go to the parent email addresses* on file. In addition, the school website links and archives all newsletters. Visit the "Newsletters" tab found in the dropdown menu below "News" in the menu bar to access all school newsletters.
*Not receiving emails from the school?
Parents may change/update their family contact information by completing a Student Information Change Form. Per Fulton County Schools policy, parents MUST come to the school front office and present a valid ID to change/update email addresses, phone numbers, and home addresses. If both parents are listed on the student’s original registration form, both parents do NOT have to come to the school to make changes; one parent with an ID is sufficient.
Home Access Center - Electronic Gradebooks and more...
Parents and students may reach the Home Access Center (HAC) directly (http://www.fultonschools.org/en/sp/Pages/default.aspx) or via the District Parent Portal or the District Student Portal. HAC contains attendance records and assignments, as well as grades. In the spring, parents log into the HAC to vote for Governance Council representation. Per Fulton County Schools policy, parents MUST come to the school front office and present a valid ID to receive an HAC password.
What is PeachJar?
PeachJar is a Fulton County Schools service which sends flyers and documents
electronically to parents. Be on the look-out for emails with "PeachJar" as the sender and a subject line "New Eflyer From Riverwood International Charter School." Please be aware that the emails are not coming from the high school; they are coming from Fulton County Schools. The contents are items of general interest to the community such as tutoring, enrichment opportunities, camps, special programs, and more. Parents do not have to do anything when the emails arrive; however, recipients may change their preferences using the login and password provided. If parents "opt out" of having PeachJar flyers sent to their email address, the flyers will still be available to view on the homepage of the school website. Look for the PeachJar icon and link at the bottom of the far right column on the homepage. No password is required to view the flyers.
