Raiders Qualify for Nationals at State FBLA Conference
Nine Raiders attended the 2017 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference at the Classic Center in Athens. Workshops and competitions with other outstanding high school students from across the state took place non-stop during the March 12-14 event. Congratulations to the two Raiders, Luca Maddale​ni (below left) and Chandler McCleskey (below right), who qualified to advance to the National FBLA Conference this summer in Anaheim, California. Maddaleni won first place in the Introduction to Information Technology division; McCleskey won fourth place in the Public Speaking competition. Paula Chesser and Michelle Finley are the FBLA chapter advisors.

Raider FBLA Excels at 2017 Region Conference
The Raider chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competed at the 2017 Region 9 Leadership Conference. Held at Alpharetta High School on January 24, 2017, several Raiders claimed top honors and qualified to participate at the upcoming State competition. The Georgia 2017 State Leadership Conference is March 12-14 in Athens. Paula Chesser and Michel​le Finley are the FBLA chapter advisors.

Raiders Attend 2016 National Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Conference
Sierra Tulloch and Jasmine Sillas, members of the Raider FBLA chapter and May 2016 graduates, attended the National Leadership Conference this summer. Based on their First Place finish in the Management and Decision-making competition at the State level earlier in the year, they qualified as delegates to the National Conference. Held June 29-July 3 in Atlanta, the conference attracted more than 12,500 of America’s best and brightest high school students.​ Tulloch and Sillas connected with top future business leaders, took advantage of the more than 65 business and business-related competitive events, enhanced their business skills, and expanded their networks. 

The annual conference is part of a comprehensive national competitive program sponsored by FBLA that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. Indeed, students competed for the opportunity to win more than $179,000 in cash awards. For many students, the FBLA competitive events are the capstone activity of their academic careers. 



FBLA Fall 2015 Leadership Conference
The Raider Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter traveled to the 2015 FBLA Fall Leadership Conference in Athens. The two day conference, held November 4-5, brought more than 3,000 students and advisers together from across the state. Members and advisers attended sessions on Leadership, Professionalism, College Readiness, and Public Speaking. A special treat this year was having a campus tour provided by Raider Business Alumni at UGA​. Sheri Smith is the FBLA Faculty Sponsor





Multiple Winners at 2015 Georgia FBLA Conference
The Raiders sent 37 students to the 2015 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta and had winners in several divisions. Workshops and competitions with other outstanding high school students from across the state took place almost non-stop during the March 20-21 event. Congratulations to the seven Raiders who qualified to advance to the National FBLA Conference this summer in Chicago. Congratulations also to faculty advisor Sheri Smith for being named to the Georgia FBLA Board.

FBLA 2014 Fall Leadership Conference
The Raider Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter sent over 25 students to the 2014 FBLA Fall Leadership Conference. The two day conference, held November 18-19 in Athens, brought more than 3,000 students and advisers together from across the state. In cooperation with TRI Leadership Resources, a nationally recognized leadership services firm, Georgia FBLA members and advisers attended sessions on Leadership, Professionalism, College Readiness, and Public Speaking. Raiders Win National FBLA Award
After qualifying at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)​ Georgia State Leadership Conference in March, eight Raiders advanced to the 2014 National Leadership Conference in Tennessee. More than 10,000 participants from across the United States and two countries met in Nashville at the end of June to sharpen their core business skills, expand their networks, and participate in more than 60 business and business-related competitive events. Congratulations to Hunter Lankford and Visar Mehmeti for their 3rd Place award in Banking and Finance.  Sharod Hinton, Remy Falciglia and Connor Gladney competed in Entrepreneurship, Cameron Scheele in Sports Management, Eric Jacobs in Marketing, Kara Wise in Public Speaking II, ​and Jazondre Gibbs in Client Services. In addition to the competitions, students immersed themselves in educational workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall, and attended motivational keynotes on a broad range of business topics.​ Sheri Smith is the faculty sponsor of the Raider FBLA Chapter.

The Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) is the largest and oldest student business organization in the country. FBLA-PBL competitions recognize and reward excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. Raiders Join other FBLA Chapters in 2014 March of Dimes Walk

Members of the Raiders Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), along with students from the Chattahoochee, Roswell, and Centennial High School FBLA chapters, volunteered at the March of Dimes Walk in downtown Atlanta on Saturday, April 26, 2014. This year's event raised almost $500,000 to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

The Hyatt Regency Atlanta hosted the 2014 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference. 33 members of the Raider FBLA Chapter participated in workshops and competitions with other outstanding high school students from across the state during the March 14-16 event, and seven Raiders qualified to advance to the National FBLA Conference this summer. 2014 FBLA Region Leadership Conference Awards Ceremony

Congratulations to the Raider FBLA Chapter for being recognized at the 2014 Region Leadership Conference (RLC) for growing to be the third largest high school chapter in the state of Georgia. Alpharetta High School hosted the RLC on Tuesday, January 21, 2014. After a full afternoon of workshops and competitions, the highlight of the conference was the Awards Ceremony where Riverwood brought home an impressive amount of ribbons. The students advancing to the State Competition will have almost two months to prepare for the March 14-15 State Leadership Conference at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta.

Investment Club and FBLA Members Visit the Federal Reserve

Members of the Investment Club and the Raider FBLA chapter toured the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta on January 15, 2014. Throughout the tour, students reviewed the role the Federal Reserve Bank plays in the U.S. Economy and the banking industry. The students had a chance to discuss monetary policy, the direction of interest rates, and even had a chance to sit in the Boardroom.




Marketing Field Trips to World of Coke and the Atlanta Hawks

Throughout the month of December, the FBLA studied Marketing. On Friday, December 6th, 2013, ten Raiders attended a Sports Marketing Event with the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks staff led the students through a Hawk’s marketing competition, they heard from various marketing professionals, and were also able to attend the game vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers.  The Hawks came through with a big win over the Cavaliers, 108-89, to close the day on a positive note.


As part of the marketing study, students also had a chance to tour the World of Coke museum.  The tour provided FBLA members with an opportunity to experience the fascinating story of the world’s best-known beverage brand.





Raiders Attend 2013 Fall FBLA Conference

The Georgia Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) held its Fall Leadership Conference in Athens, Georgia on November 13-14, with more than 3,000 members and advisers from across the state. Twenty-four Raiders attended the conference and participated in the exciting, informative, and inspiring leadership sessions. During the two-day event, they took a tour of the UGA campus, visited the Terry College of Business, completed various leadership tracks, and competed in the annual Monopoly tournament.
