With the celebration of 50 years of Rotary International and Interact - Youth Service Clubs, the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs donated a Rotary Peace Pole in honor of the long-standing education/youth partnership with the Raider Interact Club. On March 21, 2014, students and Rotarians dedicated the recently installed Rotary Peace pole in the Global Garden in front of the School. The inscription on the pole reads "May Peace Prevail on Earth.”  The Raider Peace Pole is the third in the Sandy Springs community and joins the list of many others on the Atlanta Peace Trail.

Rachel Carlson, Interact Vice-President, shared the history of Interact and the club's projects & programs. Raider Interact members, and other student organizations, came together at the dedication ceremony to share the nine Nobel Words of Peace and bore the nine world flags which represent the nine official languages of Rotary.

Rotarian Fran Farias explained the origins of Peace Poles following WWI and shared news of recent installations around the world. Dr. Lisa Stueve, Rotary Youth Services Director, provided an overview of local Rotary club partnerships and youth scholarship programs. Rotary President Jim Squire delivered the Prayer for Peace.

Lauren Fogarty is the Interact faculty advisor; June Carlson is the faculty Rotary liaison.
