The Westlake High School Media Center has much more to offer than books. The media center is a gathering place for parents, students and staff to explore ideas. The media specialists, working collaboratively with teachers, help students develop a love of reading, become skilled users of ideas and information, and explore the world through print and electronic media.

Monday – Thursday 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Friday 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Destiny Web Catalog  - provides information on all the resources available in the media center.  Databases and Resources for School or Home Use – Passwords may be obtained by emailing a member of the media staff and are required for home use.

CultureGrams Online - Provides an insider’s perspective of the history, geography, ethnicity, economics, religion, education, health, holidays, lifestyle and other aspects of culture for many countries.

Discoverystreaming  - View and download topic-specific videos and related materials within the Professional Development center in Discovery Education streaming to learn about the benefits of streaming.
 
GALILEO - GALILEO is a doorway to a wealth of information. Through it you can potentially access databases indexing thousands of periodicals and scholarly journals.

GALE Student Resource Center  - Student Resource Center offers access to a premium selection of encyclopedia, reference materials, more than 1,100 full-text periodicals and newspapers, primary sources, creative works, and multimedia, including hours of video and audio clips and podcasts based on national curriculum standards. 
 
GALE Science Resource Center  - Science Resource Center offers thousands of topic overviews, experiments, biographies, pictures and illustrations and the latest scientific developments are covered in magazines and academic articles.
    
GCIS (Georgia Career Information System) -
Working with educational and labor market professionals, GCIS contains, assessments, explorations, and search strategies as well as the most comprehensive and accurate state and national occupational and educational information.

ProQuest  - Offers scholarly articles, including peer reviewed articles on hundreds of educational topics.

USA Test Prep - This online resource helps students effectively prepare for the GHSGT and EOCT tests.

Visual Thesaurus  - The Visual Thesaurus is an interactive dictionary and thesaurus which creates word maps that blossom with meanings and branch to related words. Its innovative display encourages exploration and learning. You'll understand language in a powerful new way.
