* 20 Screeners Needed

To sign up:

www.SignUpGenius.com/go/20F0548A4A822A64-scoliosis3 Feb. 2 - Scoliosis

Feb. 2 -  Screening of 6th-grade/8th-grade

@ Elkins Pointe MS @ 12-4 PM

This is a really important event because the ages of 11-14 are the prime time for identification of Scoliosis of the spine. Early detection and treatment are the keys to reversing Scoliosis so it is not a life-long problem. Professional nurses from Fulton County Schools run the event, but every year we need parent volunteers to be the "first eyes." Parent Screeners act as primary checkers to make the process move smoothly and quickly for the students. With this important event only 3 weeks away, the PTSA is in desperate need of Scoliosis Screeners for a 3 1/2 hour window on Feb. 2nd from 11:45 am to 3:00 pm. Please see the SignupGenius below if you can sign up as a volunteer. Bonus: We will feed you lunch, snacks, and coffee during the day!

If you were certified last year through the Training Course, you DO NOT NEED to take it again. However, if you have not taken the training course within the last 18 months, you will NEED to attend -- it is a painless 1 1/2 hours on Jan 24th, and then you will be certified for 2 years. Please consider volunteering your time for this very worthwhile service event that EPMS provides to its students. Please, direct questions to Jennifer Rodman: jcrodman@yahoo.com

Carpool Green Light and Carpool Red Light...

Do ✅ & Don't 🚫

To make carpool run more efficiently, please...

Do ✅  Green Light:

  • Parents stay in cars
  • Students walk quickly during dismissal to carpool area
  • Stay off cell phones - students and parents

Don't 🚫 Red Light:

  • No backpacks in trunks - do not pop trunk or get out of the car to open the trunk
  • Students do not walk down the hall slowly, looking at cell phones
  • Students should not be in the lane of traffic at any time or for any reason

Please Note: Carpool is running at approximately 16 minutes from the time that Elkins Pointe is dismissed at 4:05 pm. Parents, we ask that you help facilitate carpool by asking your child to quickly walk to the front of the building by not checking their cellphone until they are safely buckled in your car. Also, placing backpacks the trunk is slowing carpool down and creating a dangerous situation. Students need to be prepared to swiftly enter the car with their backpack in hand and should not be stepping into the traffic lanes.

Fulton County Weather Updatesweather advisory.jpg

Fulton County Schools (FCS) recommends staying tuned in to their website, FCS social media accounts, and local news media for updates.

Parents, please will you read through the following and make a note. In order to keep our students safe, to maximize instruction without interruption and to adhere to the FCS nutrition regulations we ask that you follow these procedures.

  1. All car riders must use the carpool lane. Cars will no longer be permitted to park in the Hembree Springs Lot. Car riders will be required to stay in the carpool area until they are picked up. Please Note: Four (4) lift-busses have been relocated to alleviate the carpool lanes.
  2. All students checking out must have and present a signed note to the front office. Please send your child with a signed note if they are being checkout early.
  3. Check-Out your child prior to 3:30 PM. It is policy at Elkins Pointe Middle School that check not occur after 3:30 PM unless it is a medical emergency.
  4. The front office will no longer "Call into the Classroom" for early check-out. Calling into the classroom interrupts instruction. Please have your child meet you at a prearranged time in the front office. Please arrange with your child to meet you in between classes. Your child's signed note will act as his or her hall pass.
  5. Food from "Fast-Food Restaurants" is Not Permitted. Students will no longer be allowed to bring food from outside restaurants such as Chick-fil-A, Subway, McDonald's into the cafeteria.

  1. Parents, please stay in your cars (i.e. parents, friends, siblings & pets).

  2. Please refrain from waiting on the front median and the sidewalk with young children and pets.

  3. NO PARKING in the Employee Lot, Bus Parking Lot, or Hembree Springs Parking Lot. These lots will be closed from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm every day to keep our students safe and to limit interference with bus arrival, boarding, dismissal, and departures.

  4. Please, NO CROSSING traffic lanes with students. This presents a major safety hazard.

  5. Please help expedite carpool, by limiting the use of the Carpool Parking Lot to emergencies and appointments from 3:30-4:30.
