Holcomb Bridge Middle School
Character Education Program

Several years ago, Holcomb Bridge launched a character education program entitled, iCare. The goal of this program is to create a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment for every student and thus support academic development.

We have created a caring community at Holcomb Bridge Middle School and beyond. Each month the academic and practical meanings of a character word are explored.  Teachers select one student per grade level that best represents the meaning of the character word.  Those students attend a character luncheon.   Holcomb Bridge is a school that has truly embraced caring and character.

The character words for the school year are listed below. Take a moment each month, and have a character conversation with your student.

SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR FRAMEWORK

We currently have a character education program here at Holcomb Bridge Middle School
(I C.A.R.E.). In addition to focusing each month on an I C.A.R.E. character word, we have created a system that will reward students periodically when they exhibit I C.A.R.E. behaviors. Students will have an opportunity to earn I C.A.R.E. bucks when staff members observe them exhibiting model behaviors/ acts.

What does I C.A.R.E. mean?

I… Commit acts of kindness

I…Act responsibly

I…Respect people and property

I…Ensure safety

How will the bucks be used?
Students can use the bucks to “purchase” specific rewards (i.e. having lunch outside with classmates).
