Hello HMS Families!
We are only a couple weeks away from the first day of the 2017-2018 school year! There are several documents from our PTA and myself linked to this page. .
The first significant event at HMS this year will be our annual Information Day, which will be held on August 2nd. 6th grade families attend from 9-11, and 7th and 8th grade families attend from 3-5. There is also a new student/parent session for 7th and 8th grade families new to HMS from 2-3 in the gym (6th grade students will have a full Orientation on the first day of school).
For Information Day, parking is always a challenge, but please consider coming during the second hour (there is no advantage to being the first ones here) and/or carpooling with a neighbor. We will send out more details about Information Day in the days leading up to the event.
A major change this year that you should be aware of is our decision to not provide student agendas this year. In the past, we have invested a great deal of money in that tool, and a large number of students do not utilize it. If you feel your child needs some sort of academic planner, there are a lot of affordable options in stores and online.
Good news!!! - we have opened up an online payment option for our locker rental fees. If you choose to use this option, simply visit our website, look for the "Online School Payments" link under Important Information, and follow the instructions. Once you have paid the fee, simply print out the receipt and bring it in to Information Day to get your student's locker. Doing this now does not guarantee a top locker, but it does save you from having to wait in the long line at Information Day!
One of the other forms is the PTA registration form. If you are going to try to get a top locker for your student, you will need to register online, so don't do the paper registration. Instructions on the "Top-Locker Incentive" will come out next week.
