Dear Hopewell Parents and Families,
The first day of the 2019-2020 school year is just around the corner! I
am looking forward to a successful school opening and a wonderful school
year. I hope you and your students are ready to go as we continue to
strive for excellence and demonstrate our Mustang PRIDE!
Our first event of the year, our annual Information Day, will take place on Wednesday,
August 7th during the following times:
6th Grade: 9:00 - 11:00 am
8th Grade: 12:30 - 2:30 pm
7th Grade: 3:00 - 5:00 pm
Information Day is for all families, including rising 6th
graders from our feeder schools and new students who have recently registered.
Although your attendance is not
required, Information Day provides both students and parents the opportunity to
meet teachers, staff, and other Hopewell families. The following
information and services will also be available on August 7th.

Once again, we will be teaming up with our PTA to offer a Top Locker Incentive
option to those that purchase a membership online. The first 200 people who
purchase a membership with the PTA on their website will be guaranteed a top
locker position for their child. Their website www.HopewellPTA.org will go LIVE
for membership on July 31st at 9am. Memberships can be purchased for as little
as $30! The PTA will also be announcing new incentives with membership that
includes reserved seating at some of Hopewell's best events (including the 8th
grade ceremony). Details will be released soon. The Top Locker Incentive
is our PTA's biggest fundraiser and they appreciate your support.
All 6th grade students, any other students who are new to HMS, or those who
have changed their address are required to provide “proof of residence” prior
to the start of school. Visit the HMS website to get more information
about the New Residency Verification Requirements. We will have staff on
hand to check these documents during Information Day.
In addition to the above, we will be collecting our locker/activity fees and
encouraging families to register for the PTA, as well as donate to the
Enrichment Fund. You do have the option of paying your locker/activity
fees online by visiting our website and clicking on the "Online School
Payments" tab (or download the OSP app on your phone), and you can
register for the PTA by visiting their website, which can be found by visiting
the "Quick Links" section of our website (website registrations will
open on July 31st at 9:00am). Make sure you save your receipts. If
you are not able to purchase these services online, you can purchase them on
PE/Hall Locker/Activity Fee ($20 – cash or money orders only)
PTA Membership (starting at $30)
We will continue our WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) program to support our
incoming 6th graders. This program will truly benefit our youngest
students as they get acclimated to HMS. Our 8th grade WEB leaders will be
training this summer in preparation for the 6th Grade Orientation activities,
which will take place on the first day of school, August 12th. This
ensures that all 6th graders enrolled on the first day of school are able to
attend the Orientation.
PTA will be selling spiritwear on Information Day, and we are encouraging all
staff and students to wear their HMS gear on Fridays throughout the year to
show their HMS spirit!
Finally, our supply lists will be posted on our website next week, and this
year, we are asking families to provide students with a small bag to carry
their Microsoft Surface 3's and chargers during the school day. Students
will not be permitted to carry their backpacks during the school day.
