School Governance Council Elections - Hopewell Middle School will be electing new representatives to serve on our inaugural School Governance Council (SGC). There are three parent/guardian positions and two teacher positions open for election this fall. Our School Governance Council has a leadership role in the governance of the school. The Council works with the principal on the long-term vision and strategy for the school. They are responsible for approving the school’s strategic plan and budget recommendations, as well as designing innovative solutions to increase academic achievement and meet the unique needs of our school community. Elections for the parent/guardian and teacher positions on the School Governance Council will be held November 12th- 18th. Candidates interested in running for an elected position on the Council must complete a candidate declaration form (interactive) and submit to the district office by October 15th! Candidate declaration forms can be submitted electronically or by mail to the district office. Hard copies of the candidate declaration forms are located in the front office.
To declare your candidacy for a position on the School Governance Council or to learn more information about Charter System and SGCs, please access the SGC Elections webpage. You may also attend a SGC information session to learn more about the Council.

Extended Learning - The 2014-2015 Extended Learning Program will begin Tuesday, September 23, 2014 and end on Thursday, March 31, 2015. Students will meet with the EL teachers prior to school from 8:00-8:45 (math) and immediately after school from 4:15-5:15 (reading). The program is two days per week, Tuesday and Thursday. To attend the after school program, your child must have scored at level one or at risk for level one on the spring 2014 CRCT in reading and/or math. Students with no test scores may attend if they are recommended by their teacher and principal as a possible level one student. There is no cost to parents.
Registration forms were sent home with students through their math or reading teachers. The deadline for returning completed forms is Monday, September 8, 2014. Once registered, students and parents will receive additional information including room numbers for the classes. We believe these additional hours of learning will help students improve in math and reading and perform at a higher level on the Georgia Milestones Assessments. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s reading or math teacher or email Mrs. D'Aversa, Extended Learning coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
