WEB Leader Training

WEB Leader training will take place on Friday, July 28th and Monday, July 31st from 8:00 – 1:00 in the gym. Both training days are mandatory as we will begin to teach/coach students on how to be a WEB Leader and prepare them for the 6th Grade Orientation. The training will involve lots of games, group activities, fun, and learning. Students should wear comfortable clothes as we will be on the floor and very active (no dresses or skirts).  For the trainings, we will provide snacks each day as we know the days will be long. Make sure students eat a big breakfast. Students are encouraged to bring any extra snacks they might like and a water bottle. An email will be sent out soon directly to WEB Leaders (using email addressed provided on the application).

Back-To-School Information

Please review the dates below pertaining to back-to-school activities.  As we approach the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year, more information will be available via this website (as well as through email).  Any emails sent to parents will also be posted to the website, so if you are a new-to-Hopewell family (not including rising 6th graders who were zoned for HMS) and haven't registered yet, you should check the website regularly.  Details such as when schedules will be available, how to get a top locker, etc. will be shared in July.

Important Dates: 

August 2nd – Information Day (all HMS students will be able to receive and "walk" their schedules, pay for and receive their locker assignment, complete required beginning-of-the-year paperwork, etc.).  6th grade families will attend in the morning and 7th/8th grade families in the late afternoon. 

  • 6th grade will attend Information Day from 9:00-11:00am
  • 7th/8th grade will attend Information Day from 3:00-5:00pm
  • A meeting for new 7th/8th students & families will be held from 2:00-3:00pm in the gym with Mr. LeMoyne 

August 7th – First day of school (6th grade students have Orientation on this day, there is no Summer 6th grade activity) 

August 14th – 6th Grade Curriculum Night (this is a parent-only event where you have the opportunity to meet your child's teachers and walk their schedule) 

August 15th – 7th Grade Curriculum Night (this is a parent-only event where you have the opportunity to meet your child's teachers and walk their schedule) 

August 16th – 8th Grade Curriculum Night (this is a parent-only event where you have the opportunity to meet your child's teachers and walk their schedule)

 

How to Volunteer at Hopewell Middle School

To keep in compliance with State Law and best practices, we require that all persons interested in volunteering in the Fulton County School District to register by completing the online volunteer registration/application process.  Fulton County School's requirement:  You will not be able to volunteer until you complete the online training and application.  It could take as long as 24-48 hours for your application to be processed before you will be eligible to volunteer.  Visit the Fulton County Schools Volunteers and Partners Webpage and register to volunteer. 

 

Bilingual Community Liaison/ Enlace Bilingüe con los Padres
Our Bilingual Community Liaison assists parents who speak Spanish in parent-teacher conferences, emails, and phone calls through interpretation or translation. The most important goal is to support parents from other cultures or languages to understand our school system and help them to be involved in their child’s education. If you need assistance in this regard, please send an email to our Parent Liaison, Anabel Taveras, at taveras@fultonschools.org.

Planning to travel?  Check this first

If you are planning to travel during the school year, please review your child's attendance record first.  Fulton County Schools' attendance policy can be found online at www.hopewellmustangs.net under Parents, 2015-2016 Handbook and on page 6 in your child's agenda.  Please note that in order to have any planned absence considered approved, a letter from the parent must be submitted to the assistant principal PRIOR (3 to 5 days) to the planned absence. Approved absences are limited to six (6) per year.  The absence may or may not be approved.  As well, if your child has missed 10 or more total days of school this year, you may be asked to provide medical notes for additional absences to be considered excused (in accordance with Fulton County's attendance policy).  Please reconsider scheduling your family travel/vacation time to coincide with school breaks and avoid missed class time whenever possible.
