Dear Northwestern Middle School Family,
I am excited and humbled to be chosen as your new principal at Northwestern Middle School. I look forward to meeting our students, staff, parents, and community members and working together to strive for excellence. I am eager to work alongside each and every one of you to achieve our school's mission and vision. It is truly an honor to lead this prestigious school community.
My passion for helping and educating communities began long before my first teaching experience as a high school math teacher at Randolph-Clay High School (RCHS) in 2005. My passion was fueled through volunteer work in a 1st grade reading classroom, while earning my Bachelor of Mathematics degree at Albany State University. While teaching for 3 years at RCHS, I earned a Master of Math Education degree at Columbus State University in 2008. I began my work in Fulton County Schools in 2008 as a math teacher and basketball coach at Woodland Middle School (WMS). I later earned a Master of Educational Leadership degree at Kennesaw State University and gained my first experience as an educational leader as an Administrative Assistant at WMS in 2011. I was promoted to the role of Assistant Principal at Alpharetta High School in 2012. I have formed positive, collaborative relationships with all types of stakeholders through my work in these communities and I am committed to doing the same here. I recently completed my course work and will be awarded my Specialist of Educational Leadership degree at NOVA University in 2015. I am a newlywed and married my wife, Kalessia, this past July. She is also a Fulton County Schools' educator and we are both dedicated to FCS.
As we make this transition of leadership at Northwestern, I am aware of the uncertainty, hesitation and eagerness that can accompany any new leadership. I am aware and appreciative that the NMS staff has been working so diligently to support our community through this leadership change. Please know that I am committed to listening and spending my first months learning about our school and our school community. I am ready to learn about what is essential to our culture, what is currently working and what we may need to improve.
In closing, I look forward to meeting all of our students and working collaboratively as a school community to challenge them to strive to their full potential for both academic excellence and personal growth.
