SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CENTER (SBHC) NEEDS SURVEY
Ridgeview is being considered for a School-Based Health Center. A SBHC is a full-service medical facility that can perform things such as asthma treatment, illness diagnosis and treatment, physicals, immunizations, and other such things that a medical facility would typically provide. An SBHC is for students, parents, community members, and staff, and it DOES NOT replace the normal operation of the school clinic. This service would simply enable us to provide more immediate and consistent medical care for students and staff. Lake Forest elementary school has had an SBHC for three years and has seen student and staff absence rates decrease significantly. It operates on a sliding fee schedule and does not turn anyone away for inability to pay.

As part of the consideration process, our cluster nurse has organized a needs survey for parents.
