Digital Citizenship

For the last couple of weeks during Wolfpack, students have been learning about digital citizenship via Common Sense Media.  Each grade level particiapted in five activities that took students through a series of topics including social media, cyberbullying, digital footprint, and internet safety.  Detailed information is available at Making Sense blog for Families.

Student & Staff Recognition Program Begins

October is not only the designated Month of the Young Adolescent (MOYA) it is also the month that kicks off River Trail's student recognition program, Wolf of the Month, sponsored by Chick Fil A at Johns Creek, Creative Hair Salon and Publix. Each month a character trait is paired with a content area department, and the teachers in that department each select a student who exemplifies this characteristic. These students become our Wolves of the Month. October's character word is Responsibility.

River Trail's Employee of the Month program sponsored by Creative Hair Salon is linked to the same character word as the students'. Students, parents and staff are invited to nominate a staff member who exemplifies this character trait.

Doing what you say you will do
Watching for tasks that need to be done and doing them
Performing your chores and being ready for school without reminders
Taking care of the things that belong to you

National Take Back Drugs Day – Oct. 22

More Americans now die every year from drug overdoses than they do in motor vehicle crashes and the majority of those overdoses involve prescription medications. Health care providers write millions of prescriptions for opioid pain medications each year. These medications accumulate in medicine cabinets and drawers around houses and pose a danger to curious or thrill-seeking youth. These medications cannot be disposed of in your trash/toilet and must be turned in for proper disposal.
