Talent Show is Tonight!

Come out and enjoy a night of talent as 26 acts covering a variety of talents perform to raise money for a local charity!  All ticket proceeds will be donated, and tickets can be purchased at the door.


Wolf War V

On Saturday RTMS hosted the Wolf War academic tournament, the largest tournament in the southeast, and one of the biggest in the country.


WWV by the numbers:

  • 62 teams
  • 750 cookies and cupcakes
  • 2 divisions
  • 48 schools
  • 1120 slices of pizza
  • 78 volunteers
  • 17 former students from 3 different high schools helped with reading and stats
  • 405 total questions, all written by the RTMS coaches

    This year we used a unique power-matching system, so each round was highly competitive. Congrats to Creekland MS for winning both the main and novice divisions.

    A big thank you to all our River Trail volunteers!


Interim Progress Reports (IPRs) – Nov 28

Interim Progress Reports (IPRs) – Nov 28 We are pleased to inform you that we are going paperless for progress reports and ask that you view the grades online. IPRs for the reporting period ending November 14 may be viewed through Home Access Center (HAC) and Student Access Center (SAC) beginning November 28. We will continue to print report cards in January for Semester 1 and at the end of the year for Semester 2. All students have a User Name and Password. If you do not have your own and wish to obtain them, please come to the school with a photo ID to receive the information. We are not permitted to send this information home with your student or provide it over the phone, text, or email.

Book Fair is Coming!

It's time once again for the annual RTMS Book Fair. Beginning Monday, Dec 4th, Scholastic Book Fair will fill the Media Center with books, posters, and more.  It's a great time to stock up on holiday gifts and books for winter reading.  Parents are invited to browse at any time during the day between 8:15 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. – regular book fair hours.  Students will have the opportunity to visit and make purchases through their language arts classes.  The book fair will close at 4:00 on Friday, Dec 8th.

Summit OnSite

River Trail is excited to join other North Fulton secondary schools in the "Summit OnSite" program!  The mental health/wellness of our students is as important as their physical and academic well-being, and we don't want appointment-scheduling to be a hindrance.  Katie Beals, a therapist from the Summit Counseling Center, is available for mental health counseling sessions at River Trail with RTMS students during the school day on Thursdays.  For more information or to make an appointment, please see this FAQ.  For contact information on other off-site therapists, please contact Ms. Graff, Ms. Bartley, or Mr. Peterson in our counseling office.

 121 Reach Club

River Trail is excited to announce the return of 121 Reach Club. 121 Reach is a nonprofit organization that offers tutoring and mentoring to middle school students by high school students. 121 Reach is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. There is no cost to join. Mentoring sessions will take place in the Media Center every Wednesday from 4:10-5:05 beginning Sep 20. In order to participate, parents and students need to register. Parents: Share your knowledge!

In a PBL unit, students communicate with experts in conjunction with their investigations to create an authentic learning experience. We, faculty and students, appreciate your support in helping RTMS build a database of various contacts to enrich and accomplish real-world projects! Click here to volunteer.


RTMS 8th Grade Savannah Trip

Eighth grade students have the opportunity to participate in an overnight trip to Savannah on Thu, March 22, 2018 as an extension of the standards covered in Georgia Studies. Students have received the Savannah Parent Packet; parents must complete and return the required RTMS forms to their Social Studies teacher on or before the deadline of Aug 31, 2017.  Additionally, parents you must register your child through the travel company's website and make payments via the travel company's online site or mail checks directly to their office.  Class Act Tours is the travel company and the website is www.classacttours.com. When you register  (user and password code is RMSSAV18) your child, you will have the ability to create your own password for future access and use.  If you have questions about the website or information located on the website, please email Sunnie Templeton.


 Home Access Center

The following information is available on-line for parent access: student schedules, student attendance, student discipline, student test scores, registration information now includes the ability to add/edit email accounts in the contact information portion. The registration page also allows parents to add/edit their FERPA preferences, the ability for the parent to choose the alerts they wish to receive, and classwork information. Previous passwords are still active however you must re-set any alerts in HAC you would like to receive. Visit www.rivertrailmiddleschool.org, click on Parents, then District Parent Portal for easy access to Home Access Center.

Parent notification of the Fulton County gifted screening process has been posted on the school website


 Early Checkout for Students

Please send a note with your child if he/she needs to be checked out of school before the 4:05 p.m. dismissal time. The note must include a telephone number where you can be reached. Your child should bring the note to the office prior to first period the morning of the checkout. If for any reason your student does not have a note; please call the front office with the dismissal changes. Please assist us by checking out your child prior to 3:45 p.m. All students must be signed out in the logbook in the office. Photo ID needs to be shown upon checkout.

Students should not be dropped off at school in the mornings before 8:15 a.m. unless they are coming at a specific time to meet with a specific teacher. We do not have staff available to supervise students until 8:15 a.m. and they may not be on campus unsupervised.


RTMS Professional Learning Days

RTMS School Governance Council requested and was approved for 3 professional learning days for the 2017-2018 school year. Students will not attend school on the following days, 9/5, 11/27, 2/20. River Trail teachers will participate in professional development courses that will increase classroom instructional strategies in the areas of project based learning and critical thinking. These days ONLY apply to RTMS, not necessarily at other Fulton County Schools.
