End of Course (EOC) Test-Out Option

Once again, RTMS will offer the "test out" option for eligible students for the following EOC Assessments:

9th Lit/Comp, Algebra 1,and Physical Science.  Although this is an opportunity for students to move past a high school course without taking it, parents and students should carefully weigh the impact as some classes are stepping stones for others. While a student might successfully test out of one course, it does not mean that he or she will necessarily be successful in the next course, especially if they missed foundational concepts.  Parents and students should be aware that the NCAA will not recognize credits earned through testing out and no quality points or honors level distinction will be available for course credit earned through testing out. Additional information about student eligibility requirements and the testing out process will be posted on the RTMS website under the Parent Tab next week. The school will host a Parent EOC Q & A Forum on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in the Media Center at 6:00 PM.

Community Night – Thurs. Jan. 18th

River Trail will align with Northview High School to participate in "community night" on Jan 18th. Activities at RTMS before school and during the school day will operate as normal; all afternoon activities will be cancelled.  There will be no sweep bus.  No assignments or graded assessments will be due on Jan 19th. The night of Jan 18th should be a time that all students and staff take a breath and remember to have balance in their lives.  Students and staff are expected to take a step back from academic work and focus on family, friends, and community.

 Summit OnSite

River Trail is excited to join other North Fulton secondary schools in the "Summit OnSite" program!  The mental health/wellness of our students is as important as their physical and academic well-being, and we don't want appointment-scheduling to be a hindrance.  Katie Beals, a therapist from the Summit Counseling Center, is available for mental health counseling sessions at River Trail with RTMS students during the school day on Thursdays.  For more information or to make an appointment, please see this FAQ.  For contact information on other off-site therapists, please contact Ms. Graff, Ms. Bartley, or Mr. Peterson in our counseling office.
