Dear Parents and Guardians,
The time has come to collect textbooks from students at Sandtown Middle School. The process will be done in phases. The first step will include the actual collection and scanning of all student textbooks. After the collection we will print out a report that will outline the textbooks that are missing for each child in the school. A letter will be sent home to students who have missing books that will provide the name of the book as well as the amount owed to SMS for the lost book. All payments for lost textbooks are to be handled with the front office and Ms. Collier (school bookkeeper)
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions:
1. My child turned in a book so why does he/she still owe for a textbook?
Often times students will turn in books that were not scanned to them at the beginning of the year, therefore, they are held responsible for the book that was issued to them.
2. If I pay for a textbook and it is located will I get a refund?
Absolutely! Just make sure that you retain a copy of the receipt for your records. Once the book has been returned and returned to storage and indicated in TIPWEB (textbook inventory system) you will be awarded a refund.
3. Where do I go to get a refund for a book that has been paid for and found?
You will see Ms. Collier, SMS Bookkeeper
4. I searched my car, and closest and found some books from years prior what do I do?
Please bring those books back to Sandtown, they will be collected and returned to the bookroom. Those books may clear your son/daughter of a book fine, or clear another student who has a missing/lost book.
5. Can I return books during the summer and still get a refund?
Yes! School personnel will be here during the summer and they will have the ability to collect missing/lost textbooks. However, please note that your refund will not be instant, and allow at least seven days for your refund to process.
