School Governance Council Candidate Guide


The election of parents/guardians and teachers for the School Governance Councils will be held May 5 - 7, 2015. 

Sandtown has two parent/guardian positions and one teacher position open for elections. 

Votes are cast via the Home Access website.

We will hold a candidate forum/meet and greet on May 5, 2015 in the cafeteria.

Parents/Guardians of the school will elect the parent/guardian representatives and school employees will elect the teacher representatives. 

The candidate declaration period opens on April 14, 2015. 

Parents/Guardians and teachers interested in running for a position on the School Governance Council must submit a Candidate Declaration Form to the district by 5:00 pm on April 28, 2015.   • Elections winners will begin their term of service on July 1, 2015. All terms are 2-years.  Candidates must meet eligibility requirements to serve through June 30, 2017.  The eligibility requirements for parents/guardians are slightly different than the inaugural elections. Please note the rules for Parent/Guardian candidates and voters at each level below.

School Hours: 8:55 am - 4:05 pm

Front Office Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

The school will open at 8:30am. Please do not drop off your child before 8:30am as there is no supervision prior to this time.  If your child is attending morning tutorial or any other morning activity, please be sure they have a pass and they will be admitted into the building before 8:30am.

We also ask that you pick up your child by 4:05pm unless he/she is participating in an approved tutoring session or after school activity.
