Kudos to the Jaguar TSA Engineering/Drone Club Lego and VEXIQ Robotics Teams. Both teams participated and represented Sandtown Middle School last week in the TSA State Robotics Conference/Competition held in Athens, GA March 9th-March 11th. The Lego Teams fought a long, hard battle and had a great showing at this year's event…Great Job (Kenyani White, Danielle Smith, Aryam Bekele, Micaiah Bivines and Tian McNeish)!

Additionally, a huge Congratulations goes out to the Sandtown Jaguar VEXIQ Teams! Both VEXIQ teams had a Fantastic exhibition in their event category during last week's State Competition and have now qualified to advance on to the "2017 National TSA Conference" held this summer in Orlando, FL. The highlight of the school year is unquestionably the annual national conference. The National TSA conference is packed with competitive events and challenging activities that foster personal growth and leadership development. Each year TSA members are offered these and many more opportunities at the national conference.  This year, the two Sandtown VEXIQ teams have the distinction of being the only middle school teams from the Fulton County School District and the entire state of Georgia representing the GA TSA State Chapter in the VEXIQ category at Nationals. The team members are as follows:

Andrew Washington, Marcellus Johnson, Ean Rollins, Fabian Hackshaw and Tallen Bohler

Chris Smith and Solomon Ibidapo

Congratulations Jaguars for your hard work, dedication and excellence in representing Sandtown Middle School in Lego and VEXIQ Robotics…we are so proud of you!

GO Jaguars!!!

Sandtown Middle School provides eighth grade students the opportunity to earn high school course credits through our Acceler8 Program. Beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, there will be no application process for students to complete to participate. All students who meet the Fulton County Schools placement criteria for these courses will be scheduled for the appropriate courses for the 2017-2018 school year.  Students and families will have the opportunity in June 2017 to opt-out of a high school course if they prefer to take the middle school course for that subject. The Acceler8 Program includes the following high school courses: 9th Grade Literature Honors, GSE Algebra I Honors, Physical Science Honors, Foundations of Engineering, Intro to Art, Intro to Graphics and Design, Marketing Principals (2019-20), and Intro to Healthcare Science (2019-2020).

All applicants must wait 24 hours after applying for application processing.  Applicants should be prepared to spend about 10-15 minutes for the training and application process.  It is very important that volunteers enter their full legal name as it appears on government issued ID.  Please do not use nicknames or "goes by" names on the application.

Once you have completed the volunteer training please bring your GA Identification to the front office to be scanned and it takes 48 hours to be cleared to volunteer.
