hudson.JPGHello Ison Springs students, parents, and families! I’m Ms. Tiffany Hudson and it is my pleasure to introduce myself as the School Counselor for the 2017-2018 school year. This year serves as my first at Ison Springs, but my 5th year as a Professional School Counselor. I look forward to meeting and working with everyone.

I grew up south of Atlanta in Clayton County where I attended school from Kindergarten to 12th grade. In 2008, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. In 2013, I received my Master’s degree in School Counseling from Mercer University in Atlanta, GA. I previously worked as a School Counselor at C.J. Hicks Elementary School in Rockdale County for 4 years prior to transitioning to Ison Springs. I am a member of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and the Georgia School Counselor Association (GSCA).

As a School Counselor, I perform the following roles/services to meet the needs of our students in the areas of academics, career development/exploration, and personal/social development:

Individual counseling: I am available to meet with your students on an individual basis. Students are referred to me by parents, teachers, administration, or students may refer themselves to speak with me. If you would like to refer your student for individual counseling, please download and complete a referral form and email it to me at hudsontc@fultonschools.org.

Small group counseling: For students that need additional support, I may see them in a small group setting with other students on a topic. Topics vary based on the data of the school but can address academics, career/goal setting, or personal/social concerns. Groups meet during the school day, but not when core subjects are taught. Students can be invited to join a group by the school counselor or referred by administration, parents, or teachers.

Core curriculum (classroom lessons): I will go into classrooms at least once a month to share a lesson with the entire class. Most topics are based on the needs of the students, but all 1st-5th grade students will participate in the state mandated career exploration lessons.

Consultation and collaboration: I work with parents/families, teachers, administration, students, community stakeholders, and other professionals to meet the needs of students. If you would like to schedule a time to meet with me, I can be reached at (470) 254-4020 ext. 49536.

Crisis Response: I respond to school crises or emergency situations as they arise.

  2. Build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community members.
  3. Continue to build my capacity as a Professional School Counselor and participate in professional development at the school, district, state, and national levels.
