Mrs. Bridgette M. Marques, Principal

Dear Parents and Partners,

I officially began my journey as State Bridge Crossing’s principal today. What an exciting day it was and I will remember it for years to come as it starts a new chapter in my life. Words cannot express the excitement and joy I feel to be joining such a wonderful school family. I know our partnerships will be critical in ensuring our students’ success.

I joined the Fulton County School District 4 years ago as a Curriculum Support Teacher at Ocee Elementary. Two years later, I was selected to serve as the Assistant Principal at Barnwell Elementary. Prior to my family’s relocation to the Atlanta area, we lived in Charleston, SC. I attended the College of Charleston where I received my undergraduate degree in Special Education. Later, I attended The Citadel and earned my Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership. My most recent degree, but hopefully not my last, I earned from Valdosta State University – also in Educational Leadership.

While working with Charleston County School District, I was honored to serve as their 2005 District Teacher of the Year. My educational experience also includes teaching special education, second grade, third grade and fifth grade. I thoroughly enjoy elementary-aged students; they simply make me happy.

My family means the world to me and I hope you will all get a chance to meet them at one of our yearly events. They are so supportive of my career and attend as many events as they can. I have been married to my husband, Ed, for 23 years and we are the proud parents of two daughters, Jessica, 19 and Sydney, 16. These girls keep us very busy but bring us lots of joy. Jessica is a sophomore at Kennesaw State University and is following in her mother’s footsteps as an aspiring educator. Sydney is a junior at South Forsyth High School and hopes to be a doctor. Both girls participate in the marching bands at their respective schools. I almost neglected to mention my ‘son’, Oscar, the Yorkie. He is a 4.5 pound ball of fire.

Again, I am looking forward to our partnership this upcoming year. I can’t wait to see you all at Sneak Peak. I’ve included a picture so if you see me in the halls, please stop and say hello. In addition, please be on the lookout for upcoming dates for Coffee with the Principal. Those will be published soon.

My best always,

Bridgette M. Marques
